How do I get a guy to ask me and become my platonic prom date?

I don't have any guy friends I'm kind of a loner who goes to a small school. I've marked off some guys because they are either popular or I'm worried that if I insinuated prom or just talking and being extra friendly they would think I like them and then they might start hitting on me or developing a crush on me. All I want is a guy who is willing to go to dances with me treat me like a lady buy the tickets and have a fun evening with I'm not attractive so how do I find this platonic date? How do I find out the guy needs a date? how do I get a guy to ask me who just needs a date and will not start hitting on me or be attracted to me.

You're not alone. Many prom dates are not romantic. Just ask a guy who doesn't have a date if he'd like to go to prom with you. I'm sure one of the guys will says yes. Then go to prom and have a good time.

For what it's worth, when I went to my senior prom decades ago, I went with a friend. She was actually dating a junior guy and liked that I asked her (she was a junior) to go to the senior prom. We had a great time, dancing and having fun at the after-prom party. We did kiss goodnight, but it wasn't super romantic, just two people thanking each other for a nice time.

We actually had a winter dance where specifically the girl should ask the guy. Only dance I want to, oddly enough.

I guess the trend continued into college. Most of my college relationships were initiated by the girl.

Just ask. When I was 17 I had a 15 year old girl ask to go with me jokingly. I said sure why not and she came. It was fun, and it was purely platonic.
