He was never angry towards me but basically didn't respond not even to his boss for half a day when usually he's in instant contact. Why is he so hurt? We never kissed or anything

Maybe he's not used to rejections (possibly his ego might be hurt) or maybe he really loves you.
You need to observe his behaviour when he is with you and you'll know whether he's egoistic or in love.

Okay, I'm not a goddess in a rose, but very observant. So if he's really throwing a fit because you rejected him, he's probably been rejected MANY times and he's just... done. And now he's so done, he finds little reason to even do things even go outside and touch grass
