I would confront him. Infact I have done it in past.

It depends because if it's a couple doing it and they're just enjoying themselves (not actually but if you can tell it's not a problem), then I do care. It's still inappropriate but it's not my business and it doesn't happen often. However, if the girl looks uncomfortable or the situation is obvious, then I'll step in. I don't really care about the gender of the person, if someone is being harrassed, that's enough reason to say something.

My focus would be less on him and more on her. I'd probably walk up (if she looks uncomfortable) and mention something about our mall trip later today. Someone did something similar for me a while back, and it worked well.

But... I had once forced a guy (with a bit of physical interaction from my side) to leave the bus with me. It wasn't sexual harrassment, but bullying the girl.

I'm not trying to be a 'hero' - but I was educated to take responsibility about 'civil courage'.

Thanks. I did it for the girl - not for some 'applause'. Interestingly, neither the bus driver, nor the other passengers reacted in any way. Strange times we live in :)

True. One discrepancy I see is: if we see it in a movie, most people will cheer and agree; in real life they tuck their tail between the legs.
