Sure, it's possible, especially in certain contexts, such as co-workers. But I'd say that, generally, this is more common if the guy has some kind of interest in the woman. Remember: "interest" could be romantic, or it could be only sexual. Those are two very separate things for men. But it could also be purely platonic, even though that's more of the exception rather than the rule.

It depends on what will be talked about at coffee date. If he is asking a lot of personal questions then he probably has some interest, if all the questions are business related he probably just wanted to meet in person to talk about those things.
