How did you meet? Under what pretense? You mentioned a couple of years ago, so it could just be a friendly meeting if you have any kind of past with him. But in a date sense, then like if it was a woman, there's some kind of interest there and attraction I would assume, or want to see if there is anything there by meeting you. Or if you've only met or talked online, sometimes it's very different actually seeing them in person (you probably know this yourself with any guys you've maybe met?). Just in my own experience with online dating, I find most women don't look like their online pictures (better in person). Plus you actually talk to them, find out what kind of personality they have etc. You can't tell those things if you don't meet them.
