Did my coworker compliment me?

Today at work we were talking about how we ended up where we are today and I jokingly said “my mother told me it’s because of my childhood trauma” and my coworker said “well if trauma shaped you then there needs to be more kids with trauma.” I normally don’t ask questions like this but for some reason this comment stuck with me and I wasn’t sure how to take it.

What he is saying in a backhanded way is that whatever has been in your life shaped you in a way that is suited to your work and his way of doing and thinking. In other words, the depth of your person is Hot... What he really wants to know is what came before and after Trauma so that he can better understand you and who you are. Be CAREFUL thinking about doing this with work peers.

Truthfully, he knows enough now !!
