In new relationships, and by that I mean just two new people that have recently met each other, I know that you're currently in the stage of trying to woo him, it's kind of a task to get nominally comfortable with each other.

It makes sense, at this point you're only attracted to each other based on looks or a small detail that optimism can blow out of proportion.

So don't assume that if the texts spend more time in formal small talk than you'd prefer that it's a bad sign. Just pivot, and switch to a meaningful topic of conversation.

If you can't think of anything to say, just blurt something out. Surely you have questions about him, you want to know if your fantasy idealization of the perfect man align with his actual person, right? So you can just ask him. "Do you drive a fast car?" Or whatever. If he likes you, any wacky conversation starter will do, and if he gets weirded out you can just do the girl thing, "Tee hee, I was just making conversation."
