We have been talking for about 4 months but we both want to take things slow. We only hung out once but we talk daily. He shows he’s interested but told me he’s nervous about commitment because of his past. He has depression and anxiety and admitted he was broken down bad in a past relationship. He said he does want a relationship but wants to establish a friendship first, which I want as well. He recently thought I was done with him because he bailed again on hanging out. He was really upset about it and told me he has a hard time showing his feelings but that he has caught feelings for me and doesn’t want me to go away. I wasn’t done with him I was just upset and had not texted him back yet. He’s not always the best texter which we established in the beginning. He said sometimes he doesn’t check his phone much but a lot of times I noticed he’ll be active on Facebook. I don't know I’m an over-thinker but anyone have any advice at all? Does he actually like me or stringing me along?
I see you’re trying to be accommodating and clearly like this guy a lot, but you have to set standards and boundaries for yourself as well. I get that he’s struggling with his mental health but if it’s to this extreme then maybe he shouldn’t be trying to date at all, and instead get himself into a healthier frame of mind before trying to date. It’s just flat out not ok that he’s bailing on you left and right, without making another plan or rescheduling. To me, he’s laying out a pretty clear idea of what to expect from him in the future, and it is riddled with inconsistency and disappointment. Your relationship with hasn’t even gotten off the ground and it’s already off to a bad start. That’s why I think it’s better to maybe keep him as a friend and find someone who’s in a better position to date.

It sounds like you are second choice. Sorry but that is what it is... I think
If you can't see that he is stringing you along then you are beyond hope.

Maybe he likes you, but he's not reliable.
