Why did he wait over 4 months to hit me up?

Hi guys. So im not really experienced into dating. But i met this guy through a mutual around May. He was very shy (thats his personality) didn’t think of it much. He himself said he was more of a quiet guy. Anyway I haven’t seen him since that day, he goes off the grid most the time bc he’s private and doesn’t have socia media.

I totally forgot about him, until a few days ago he hits me up on my number (our mutual gave him my number, but my mutual didn’t let me know). So he messaged me saying he wants to get to know me blah blah whatever, nice , and handsome guy but I’m not interested in dating anybody atm.

my question is why did he wait around 4 months to hit me up out of no where? im not very experienced like i mentioned, but I find it weird bc like dang was he thinking of me these past months? Or like why did he take so long? Is he just bored? I've never heard of anybody taking this long to hit someone up.

i forgot to mention but him and my mutual dont talk much due to the guy going MIA 90% time.

I would be pissed at your 'mutual' for giving out your # without your permission and focus your energy there.

It’s not a big deal, I was just wondering bc im an overthinker and was kinda sus about it bc he’s a mysterious guy and I wad just curious? And I was mad at my mutual for giving out my number, I spoke to him already though
