Why he told others as if he doesn't like me even act as if he's not afraid to leave me but when we both alone, he beg to not leave him?

some people asked him about us. but he just stated that he doesn't like me even tho we're close friend... because we're close friend, he doesn't said he love me. but he doesn't want to lose our friendship.

but why he acted as if I'm being crazy towards him in front of people?
