Why would my ex hide his face, shake his head at me working out and make eye contact with a nearby guy giving each other a look?

The guy nearby didn’t know either of us but he given him a look and the guy looked at him with wide eyes then went back to his workout … I was doing a bent over exercise and he was doing curls at the bench behind me so his view was basically this but I don’t understand if he was hinting to the guy I was doing it purposely and that I’m desperate or something
