I read a book on Greek myths today. written by a Roman scholar in 50 bc. Some interesting insights into the origin of Zeus.
First of all, Zeus was the son of Kronos. Kronos was absolutely self centered, basically a psychopath. By the time Zeus died, he had become known as the most honorable and friendly man in the world. Both Kronos and Zeus were muscular, impressive men.
When Zeus was a baby, he was pampered by goddesses without Kronos' knowledge. Meaning Kronos wanted Zeus to be like him, and for that to happen, he couldnt have a good mother.
Later in the story, Hercules spared the king of Troy's son from death because he had always denounced his father's evilness.
Hercules himself had a loving mother. And he's who Alexander, and countless other warriors, modeled himself after.
