Does anyone go around asking people if they like them?

You always see that advice given to ‘ask them’ when someone has a question of does he or she like me. That would be so damn awkward going up to someone saying do you like me. Like wth

It's not always the way to go. But I've certainly done it. There is something to doing things that cut through the social niceties and games we all usually play. So people are caught off guard (not in a bad way. at all) if you do abrupt, to-the-point shit like that. It was more when I was younger for sure. But... here's what you need to keep in mind: sometimes that makes sense. Sometimes it really really doesn't.

So asking someone usually isn't necessary. Usually it's just exchanging signs and signals back and forth indicating to each other that you're interested (also known as "flirting").

So the advice "ask them" is usually not necessary. It's usually "look for signs and send some back" (also known as "flirting") That way, by the time anyone actually openly acknowledges any feelings they're pretty damn sure the person likes them back.

It's not like going up to someone totally cold and saying you like them is a good idea. Not if they haven't even 'noticed' you. You'd be missing a lot of steps (all the flirting!)

So it's mostly going to be in a situation where... you have this ONE chance to ask out someone you don't know and will never see again. At the train station or whateverthefuck. And you have to just ask them or you'll never have the chance again. But if this is like... a dude at school or at work, or part of your friend-group. Then FLIRTING is what you want to do. Not asking, just flirting.

It's way more fun and much less nerve-wracking. Asking... is only for some situations. And then yea... people generally find the process a bit (very) awkward and nerve-wracking. If it's "someone you like"... you need to flirt.

It's more of a "So.. I noticed you sneaking some glances at me. And you always face me when you think I'm not looking. How about you meet me at O'Brian's on Friday night, and you can look as much as you want?"

The point is, asking strangers online isn't the best way to figure out someone's intent; asking them is. How one goes about it is entirely up to them.

Of course I have... only weak ones. Ones that need validation on how they look. I'm not different. I asked a random mofo if the bow I had was fine as bows are usually for kids but I needed it for my hair. But those days are gone, I don't need someone's thoughts to live my life how I want. And atm... people don't like it. Good, means I'm doing something right.
