A guy friend of mine randomly makes comments that he is fat or ugly. I’ve asked why he feels that way. He insists he’s joking but it doesn’t feel like it. If I respond that he’s not or give him a random compliment, he tells me I’m crazy or need my eyes checked. He admits that he has low self esteem and that he doesn’t know how to handle compliments. I don’t think he’s doing it for attention. I’m not sure how to respond.

Ok, honestly is he really overweight? Ugly? Be honest w him. Men know when they’re fat asses unlike a lot of women who tend to live in Disneyland. So if he is overweight be honest w him. Help him by being honest, stop lying to him the way a lot of women do w theirselves and their friends. Maybe offer to workout w him or something if he’s willing to do something about his weight.
From my perspective, no. If he were a stranger on the street I would not use either of those words to describe him.
