Guys, how do you get ready for a date?

when ladies go out for a date, we go all out from nice long bath or shower, shave, make up on, do our hair, put on a nice dress and smell good… I’m curious. How about you guys?

Trim my nails, make sure my hair is looking good, do an extra thorough job in the shower, moisturize... I also like to make sure that my cologne selection lines up with other scents the woman likes.

I take a shower, put on some comfortable but stylish clothes, my version of stylish, lol, then I practice conversations in the mirror, make a sandwich, eat that sandwich to keep my blood sugar from dropping (That tends to scare people!), I smell myself to make sure my anxiety isn't causing me body odor, I put on some music to relax me, send her a text with the details, and then I head out to pick her up, then I freak out on the way!

By the time I'm doing all this, two hours have passed!

I'm not good with the opposite sex. My nervousness and shyness tend to put people at unease! Maybe I should just get a puppy. Yeah, a nice warm, cuddly puppy!

When I was dating

1. Decide what to wear far enough in advance that I have time to make sure it's clean.
2. Polish shoes.
3. Get my car cleaned and make sure I am not close to empty.
4. Make reservations at the restaurant a few days in advance.
5. Trim fingernails in advance.
6. Shower, wash hair, shave.
7. Brush teeth and use mouthwash.
8. Make sure my home is presentable in case we come back there after the date. Clean sheets on the bed, fresh towels in the bathroom.
9. Mentally review my list of five or six conversation topics in case there is a lull in the conversation.
10. Tell myself to relax and smile.

Depends on the date. I don't have a scent issue like some guys (which to wear). My shower gel, deodorant, cologne, after shave and lotion are all the same scent so nothing conflicts. If we're going to the firing range vs going to go spar in the park vs going to a wine tasting or a caviar flight or a picnic in the park, I'm wearing vastly different things, so basically, "shower" and dress. (Shower being all personal care activities, teeth nails etc.). I leave early enough that I can arrive at least 30 minutes prior if I'm meeting her there. I want to recon the area, make sure everything is still good to go, where are the exits in case of an emergency. How many steps from the parking lot to the entrance. Where are the choke points. How many people work there. How many come and go and is it in waves or constant. That way if I don't like the vibe of the place I have time to pick out a Plan B for us to go instead.

Well... golly, I get out my best Bowling Shirt, the one with the crossed champagne glasses on the back,,,,... a pair of jeans with the least holes in the knees, my best sandals, (with black socks, of course) Roll a pack of "Winston's in my shirt sleeve and im ready to rock and roll! For real, shower, shave, brush, floss, ... casual pair of dress slacks, v-neck cashmere, sweater, and a nice pair of tassel slip on dress shoes.

Shower, brush my teeth, smell check, a dab of cologne on each wrist, clean under my nails, little bit of skin tone makeup to make my skin look brighter (gets rid of the darkish circles under my eyes), style & brush my hair, put on a dapper outfit, deodorant, make sure to bring a handmade gift (i do leatherwork and other crafts), put on a little jewelry to complement the outfit, check my funds to understand my budget for the date, check the route to the meetup spot, grab my phone & wallet, then out the door i go.

I'll wash, wax and vacuum the truck to clean it up, just in case she wants to jump in with me (depends on how well I know her).

Layout what I am going to wear. I tend to dress up a little, even if it's a dress shirt and tie with jeans.

I take a shower, shave my neck well (I have a Van Dyke), trim my fingernails (and smooth them with an emery board) and perhaps toenails, and put on some nicer clothes. Sometimes I'll add some cologne. That's basically it.

If I haven't cut my hair in a couple of weeks, I'll give it a fresh cut (I cut my own hair with hair clippers).

i'll never "date" again. if i choose to go out to dinner or a movie or kayaking or help someone move... it will be a friend with whom i've already built trust and a history (albeit brief). i'll be presentable with no expectations other than enjoy our time together.
