Would a guy text a girl for hours if the are just friends?

Me and this guy text each other almost every day (no more than 3 days without contact). When we text it is for hours, we can text non stop 4-5 hours. Our conversations are always at night and we can text to 4 am until we say good night to each other. When we text he asks about my day, he tells me stories about his childhood and about himself and he asks me a lot of questions like he really wants to get to know me.

I usually don't text that much, but I have before with girls that I had no romantic interest in. Some people are just fun and/or interesting to talk with.

Yeah it's hard to tell because if you're close friends then all the texting could make sense but it's also extremely possible that he likes you and doesn't want to risk the friendship by asking you out.
