The perception of being called "cute" can vary widely among men, and much depends on context, timing, and the relationship between the individuals involved.
For some men, being called cute is flattering and can boost their self-esteem. The term often implies a sense of attractiveness, charm, or endearment, which many would find appealing. It's a compliment that suggests that there's something inherently likeable or attractive about them, whether physically or in terms of personality. However, for others, the term "cute" may be perceived as diminutive or less masculine, especially if they are aiming to project a different sort of image—one of ruggedness, sophistication, or authority, for instance. In certain contexts, being called cute might not match the self-image they want to portray, and thus could be received less enthusiastically.
Moreover, the term's impact can be influenced by cultural factors. In some cultures, being called cute is a high compliment for men, while in others it might be less so. The tone and context in which the word is used also matter; it could be seen as more genuine coming from a significant other, but might feel patronizing or insincere in a different setting.
So, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. The key lies in understanding the nuances of the situation and the individuals involved.
Who doesn't like to be called cute? And yes I will say someone is cute if I think that. That is the whole point is to pay them a compliment. I have never heard of someone getting upset at being called cute or any sort of compliment lol. I hear the term cute more towards girls than guys but it still applies. There are certainly guys that I find cute that I run across every day at work.
Some guys like it, some hate it. Just like how some women like it, and some hate it.
I love calling men cute, both genuinely (most of all, my preference) and occasionally disparagingly when they've earned it.
I have been called cute plenty of times by women and just take it in stride, but that is a term to take with a grain of salt. Cute is when a kid who is naive does something silly. Cute is what you call kittens and puppies. Cute is framed towards behavioral actions.
When you call a grown man cute that can go two different ways. Some will take the compliment and others will see it as a way of being let down gently. Men want to be known as handsome or something that truly acknowledges attractiveness and their masculinity. Being called cute is indicative of calling him harmless and not one to be taken seriously.
@Mewzinc harmless as in not hurt anybody, sure. Harmless to be seen as having no edge, confidence and a potential trial target or doormat? No.
@Mewzinc never said that they did think that way.
@Mewzinc in what way am I holding myself back? If you read my initial comment you will see that I take it in stride when called cute.
All I did was add truth on how some men view it.
"Harmless to be seen as having no edge, confidence and a potential trial target or doormat? No." So you and some men think that way however you never said women think that way so basically you're letting your negative mentality poison you. You are holding yourself back if you think that way.
If you met a woman who straight up confirmed that's how she feels and thinks when she calls a guy cute, then I'd get it. But you are making assumptions and getting upset over something that's not there. I'm only pointing it out to help you, I'm not trying to pick on you or anything.
@Mewzinc because it is relevant from past experiences. A lot of women have called me cute before and when I was single I went for it because I assumed it was a green light. Only to be told "I don't see you that way" or "cute like my brother/pet". So it holds a level of credence. Women are never direct and usually use words interchangeably to express how they feel.
To further show my point, I got a link to an old questio. I found here.
Do guys not like being called 'cute'? ↗
The way I see it is if women find the guy attractive and are flirting with him, make it more obvious over an ambiguous term like "cute". Handsome, hot and sexy are at least more upfront and will register with men better and easier than cute.
It probably depends on the guy. Everyone takes compliments different. Usually when a girl calls me cute it's when she's flirting. I think it's kinda cute. Everyone sees beauty and attraction different too, so there are probably different interpretations.

If I've ever called a guy cute it's because I'm flirting with them. I love cute guys, I'm very attracted to that look. I just want to ravish them. 😆
To some extent before a relationship ig. But do not go overboard or we'll think we got friendzoned. After y'all get together say it as much as you want. But say handsome and charming more because they sound manlier
I'm suspicious of any woman that makes a reference to my attractiveness. I don't have a problem with the word itself good or bad. I'm just suspect of a woman's motives that would use that word with me. It's been my experience that a woman that uses that word wants something.
I've been called cute. It's great. I've been called sweet more often than cute though. Both are fine. Who wouldn't like being called nice things?
If they’re acting cute then why not? I tend to say that an action is cute. And then when I comment about physical appearance I say handsome or hot or sexy.
Sure, if it’s meant as a compliment and comes from a good heart. If it comes from a place of objectification, there’s annoyance. Either way, I try not to be rude and extend gratitude, but that alone won’t win me over.
Being called cute is problematic because it means that you are attractive in a childish way devoid of sexual interest.
Every woman who called me cute made it quite clear she meant sexually.
Or am I supposed to interpret her demanding my dick as not sexual?
I've actually had "cute" used to mean that more often than "hot" when women hit on me 🤔
in my experience, yes. take that with a grain of salt tho because i've only ever called my partner cute XD
Because i know when girls say it they mean handsome but they dont want to say it so instead they use a term that sounds less confronting. Girls tend to be wimps to be honest😂😂
do you think I am cute?
So sweet!
@WhereIsMyMind believe it or not I actually got cuter as I grew up.
I've yet to meet anyone, male or female, who didn't like being called cute.
I have called men cute and they yelled at me for it, lol. In my experience they hate it 🤷♀️
Well I can only speak for myself and I would say yes but only if it's followed by jackass LOL
Yes, as long as it's not done in a patronizing way.
I hope so. If I say that I mean it as a compliment.
It's a positive compliment - who doesn't like those? I'd like it if a women said I was cute.
When I'm dressed in women's clothing, absolutely.
Yo what?
Girls always call me cute even though I'm pretty rugged looking lol.. it's just what goes with guys who are relatively young I guess, so it's cool I like it.
That's a silly compliment. Cats and babies are cute not adults. Even I don't like being called cute.
It's fine, it doesn't happen too often, but it is a nice compliment.
