We talk at work everyday and today he came to work looking rather handsome in his attire and I looked at him and told him that he looked nice. He did thank me and told me he appreciated the compliment and even said thank you twice but I know that he could have possibly saw that as flirting as well which would make me liking him no longer under cover and if he knows that, that could make things weird if he doesn’t feel the same attraction.

You're overthinking this way too much. Guys are much more simple than you think.

You without a doubt would’ve made his day and he’ll most likely remember that compliment forever. Guys very rarely get compliments, so it means so much to us when we get them, regardless of who it’s from.

In my opinion, giving a meaningful and genuine compliment to a guy you have a crush on is one of the best things you can do. No matter how many girls he thinks about, you’ll always be remembered as one of the very few that complimented him and guys hold that close to their heart.

It's only awkward if you make it awkward. You can compliment anyone without having intentions so to him, he probably just saw that as a compliment. Nothing more, nothing less. And if he does think that you are flirting with him and it creeps him out, you guys just aren't meant to be.
