We are flirting with this guy for a while and every night he texts me ''gn'', instead of saying good night etc. does it mean flirting or something else?
I think that, the abbreviation "gn" typically stands for "goodnight" when used in text messaging or online chatting, regardless of whether it's from a guy or a girl. It's a polite and friendly way to bid someone farewell or express that you're going to bed.
However, it's essential to consider the context and tone of the conversation when interpreting messages from anyone, including guys. Depending on the preceding conversation or the relationship between the individuals involved, the meaning and intention behind "gn" could vary. For instance, it might be a simple, friendly gesture to end the conversation, or it could be used with a more romantic or flirtatious undertone.
In summary, "gn" generally means "goodnight" and doesn't have a distinct gender-related connotation. The interpretation may depend on the overall context and relationship between the people communicating.

"gn" simply is a short way of "saying goodnight", just like "gm" says "good morning".
He is just following the unwritten rules of texting... keep the message as short as possible. The official (i. e.-original SMS) limit of a text message is 160 characters, and the message (per SMS standard) is split into multiple message, though more modern phones can handle more than that. Many people have gotten accustomed to writing short messages, abbreviating whenever possible, and that is what he is doing.
So anyways, yesterday was a disaster. got a call from my job sayin i'm fired. Today, after putting work in and making calls, my back up job could provide me a week of work with sundays off. With weekly pay. God is good.
"But rose, how does this relate-" the answer is in the question... and the comments. 🫠
No that is just an abbreviation of good night. Don't read into that sorta thing. It means absolutely nothing. Maybe he was just tired. I am guessing you two were texting back and forth and that was the end. Instead of typing it out he just abbreviated it. Not flirting at all. Just quicker.

When a guy texts you "gn" instead of the full "good night," it's generally his way of keeping things casual but sweet. It's definitely a positive sign, especially if you've been flirting back and forth. This shorthand can be his way of showing he's thinking about you before he heads off to sleep without making a big deal out of it. Think of it as a modern-day version of a goodnight kiss on the forehead—simple, but with a lot of warmth behind it. If he continues to communicate and show interest, it's a good indicator he enjoys your connection. Just keep the vibe going and see where it leads!
Holy sh*t Batman. And women call us men confusing. Many of you women turn nothing into something. I sneezed, he gave me a napkin what does that mean? If you know for sure he’s flirting already w you then there’s no need in even asking this question. Now if you had said you were at a game the other night, it was cold so your male friend gave you his coat and rubbed your hands, ok you may be confused about that some. I could see why you would ask what does this mean. But you’ve already established that he’s flirting w you.
Gn text me anything I mean go next if you're in line, don't get knocked up if he's having unprotected sex going now if he's through having sex got noodles. If you want some top ramen anything so fill me in. What does it mean since you proposed it to us? Maybe I'm just out of the loop. Maybe I'm not but I'm interested to hear what GN means. It's not good nutrition is it could be
Well it seems to me now it's only my opinion that if it's late night and going to bed came up in the conversation then I would bet and I'm not a gambling man, that gn quite possible mean good night, but what do I know,
I bet you don't type out "Laughing out loud" do you? So why would it be different here? Do you frequently overthink things like this? It could have serious consequences in a relationship.
Abbreviations in texts are common. Do not overthink it.
he's going to bed. just a "gn" is kind of cold, don't think that's a very flirty thing to say. if he said "good night, sweet dreams" stuff like that, then he's interested. but just "gn"? low effort...
It’s just an abbreviation for goodnight. But if you guys are texting every night, he probably is flirting with you.
Quick and easier to do gn instead of good night Gm. Good morning. lol. Laughing out loud. Easier and faster
It doesn't mean anything. Not everything people do has a meaning ffs.
I was going to say good news but I guess it means good night.
I usually just want to know she’s sound asleep and safe
it actually helps me sleep better
It’s just good night. I’m not sure why saying good night or good morning matters much? If you all are talking anyway
It means nothing. But you say you're both flirting so at least you know you like each other.
It depends on the guy. It does mean something, but it's different for each guy. You will have to clue into other clues as well.
I'd say it's just a casual and shorter way of saying it
It's a hint for "Give Nookie!"
think it means goodnight lol
Just a Good Night
It’s just a quicker way of saying it
