Why would a guy say to me “dont look too pretty” and when I asked him why he goes “because men will want to talk to you”?

First of all he probably didn’t mean it in a controlling way like someone suggested. Especially if he was laughing. A lot of times men will tease a girl about other men that like her, when in reality he actually likes her. So it’s a way to feel her out w out directly asking her if she likes him. So she may say something like I’m not looking or I already have a man or something else that gives him a clue on her status. He may not want other men to hit on you either if he does like you. If he sees you as a sister he’s probably being protective.

In my experience that's controlling behaviour and a huge red flag! Especially if you're just friends. Don't let anyone dictate to you like that
