What was the reason?

I started dating this guy at my job ( I know bad idea) and long story short we dated for a little over a year. To keep things short we ended up breaking up because I found out he had a couple kids on me (never told me, obviously) and he had sex with 2 of my friends. I found all this out by going through his phone, yeah ik bad idea, but my question is I don’t understand what was the point of even continuing a relationship with me. He was also in a relationship with one of the girls he had a kid with so I dont understand why keep entertaining me. We had our regular arguments like most couples but he always reassured me of how much he was in love with me and how he only wants me and anytime I mentioned leaving or taking a break he wasn’t for it, said we should work things out instead of leaving. I know y’all gone say “he wanted sex” but I offered to keep things casual, we was arguing a lot so I suggested just being friends and hooking up occasionally so we could move on and he wouldn’t do that. Said he wanted a relationship or nothing at all so I’m just honestly so confused as to why lead me on? Why not just let me go.

This guy has serious psychological issues and the way I see it is that he realizes that he screwed up his life and needs someone to take care of his problems.

I don't think he planned on telling you, at least not in the immediate future, that he has a lot of baggage.

Now, even if you don't like to hear it, of course he wants to fornicate with you because it is simply part of his character. He is the sort of human that cannot keep his zipper closed. He realizes that his future is now compromised because with 2 kids hanging on him, he is not likely to ever find a suitable partner that is willing to accept that he is a loose person. He probably does not even know himself how to proceed from here and he does not realize that by copulating left and right, he digs his grave even further.
