Why would a middle aged man hate a young woman?

This dude is 45, married with kids, friendly and chatty to everyone else but hates my guts. He was supposed to train me but look for excuses not to and make small talk with everyone except me. At first I thought it was due to my age or me being the new one (I’m 25) but turns out he even makes friends with newer and younger people. He stood me up several times and likes to gossip about me with his work wife aka his mistress. Also around his friend he would try to act overly cheerful by screaming „gooood morning“ at me just to annoy me. Wtf is this guys problem? Why does a 45 year old guy need to gossip about and tease a young woman at work that didn’t do anything to him?

It sounds like he's attracted to you and is too immature to admit it. Also, he is a manipulator and toxic.
Report him to standing you up for work trainings. Also, see if you can learn from someone else or learn on your own. He's obviously controlling and a terrible person. Disengage from him as much as possible and document his behavior at work when he's not doing his job.
