Most guys aren't, but there are some who are insecure about attractive women. Mostly, though, men (hell, everyone) hate rejection, and many women are quite mean when they reject a guy, and so some of those men don't handle rejection well. I don't agree with them, but I can understand why. It's usually men who are immature and/or lack experience with women.

And as for why men want to be friends with benefits, that should be obvious: for the sex.

Let me help you understand the mind of a single man.

Let's say you are home alone, sitting in your bedroom, and you have three problems: you are hungry, you need to do laundry, and the house is on fire. Which problem is your priority to deal with? Obviously, no matter what other things you have going on, your house being on fire is always going to be your first priority, right?

For a man who is single, especially a young man, no matter what other issues he's got going on in his life, getting laid is his first priority - "not getting laid" is his "house on fire" and it's hard to focus on anything else until that problem is solved. If you always remember this, it will be much easier to understand men and why they do the things they do.
