When he leaves me on read, he doesn't reply later until I say something. He always apologizes, but why would he complain then if he sometimes does the same thing?
u No clue. Ask him. Sounds like he is expecting something out of you that he can't do himself. People are funny like that. They think you should act a certain way but then don't adhere to their own standards. Leaving someone on read is not that big of a deal. We all have stuff to do and glancing at our text messages and then not replying is pretty typical. I do it all the time to make sure it wasn't something important. If it is just part of a casual conversation then often times I just leave it because I am busy doing other things and will reply when I actually have time. If he complains just remind him he does the same thing and you aren't mad about it.

A "Read" notification doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Simply opening the window will suffice. It doesn't even mean they've looked long enough to take in that something was said, let alone that they weren't busy with something else at the time.
People generally have quite a lot going on in their lives, but that doesn't mean they can acknowledge that others have things going on in their lives too, nor that someone might open a window without reading what is on it, nor even that they might just want to make the notification go away because it is distracting them from something more important.
