WWhat does a 2 armed hug from a male mean?

hii all I know this may sound silly but I have no experience with males like 0 so to give a run down of what happened me and both our mothers went out to dinner he tried to make me laugh a lot maybe because I was nervous but when I did laugh hed laugh harder we did speak before and he remembered somethings I told him the first time we met { this was the second time at dinner we've met } he did take intrest in my work and asked to see and remembered some things I told him we talked a lot about many things were passionate about which was really nice and at the end of the night I did hug him and he hugged me back it wasn't a long hug it was maybe like 5 or 10 seconds long if I'm being generous with the 10 lool but it was really nice I thanked him and said it was nice to see him again and he said the same I did reach out to hug him { which I never do to any man } and i moved my arms down a bit I was again nervous and maybe he hugged me to be polite I could be reading into this encounter a lot haha

I also meant to add the first time we met was 2years ago and he still rembered the things I told him I thought that was so sweet

One last update haha he messaged my fam member if I was open to doing some work with him so I’m excited haha I just wanted to update everyone I think he likes me I was worried he forgot about me haha

Wow you're really shy. I wouldn't read too much into it. When you're inexperienced you often read into normal behaviors because you want them to mean something. I hug a lot of people that I'm not interested in romantically. It doesn't mean he's not interested in you but from what you wrote I can't really say he is. You met through your moms which isn't a romantic situation he could just have been nice and social and made conversation.

It sounds to me like he likes you, but is both trying to be polite and isn't positive about how you feel about him. It's still early, so there are no guarantees, but all signs are positive - essentially, he's not going to push any harder until he gets some "green light" signs from you that you are interested too, because he's trying to be respectful.

I mean, he needs to know you are interested in him. How do you communicate that? I assume you are too shy to just tell him, but there are other clear ways of getting the message to him.

Smile at him. Laugh at his jokes. Cross the room to say hello. Give him a hug hello and goodbye. When he makes you laugh, touch his arm or hand or shoulder. Anytime you break the touch barrier, you are signaling that you like him and are comfortable sharing touches with him, and that is a difficult sign to confuse.

When you do things like this, it tells him that you are interested in him back, and that you are giving him a green light to take the next step - to hold your hand or ask you out or whatever.

He's only going to go so far before he stops and waits for a sign that you are liking it and are ready for more, so you have to be an active participant throughout the process. He will take some initiative, and you control the speed. He is the gas pedal and you are the breaks, so you can slow things down if they are going too fast, but you must also release the breaks if you want the relationship to maintain forward momentum.

I would be careful about buying expensive gifts for a man you aren't (yet) in a relationship with. As much as your heart might be in the right place, it's not really appropriate and it might make him feel uncomfortable (many men are uncomfortable receiving gifts as it is - many of us don't receive many gifts and we aren't used to it). My recommendation would be to bake him something, or, if you don't bake, then maybe buy him an oversized cupcake or something along those lines. That's more personal but also doesn't obligate him and so is less likely to make him uncomfortable. Once you are dating, if you want to buy him a more expensive gift, it's a lot more appropriate and he's much more likely to appreciate it without feeling awkward about it.

Tbh i dont think i clinged like i had put my arms out and he did too and we both kinda like moved towards each other but He willing hugged me I feel if I would have kept hugging him he prob wouldn't have let go loool

Yes, the 5 to 10 seconds is also significant. A quick meaningless hug is about 2 or 3 seconds.
