Why sometimes guy can be so insensitive?

Im so thin and im well aware of it. This one guy also always say im thin and frequently ask me to eat a lot. Then one day, we were playing going inside a small and close area and he's asking me to try and go inside and i tell him “if A (because A is thin too) can, ofcourse i can too”

To his response “You are fat. So just try” he say that infront all of my friends, and even got guys there. That guy had more common sense and tell him “you wanna die saying that?”

That hurts me actually, i know he didn't truly mean im fat, but why would you joke about that

You need to understand that this is how guys talk to other guys - we constantly insult each other, but we don't really mean it, and we all know it. We do it to show that we are friends, because if a man insults another man, even as a joke, and they aren't on good terms, that's grounds for violence. Being able to insult each other back and forth in a friendly way without anyone getting offended is our way of constantly reaffirming that we're all good with each other.

Sometimes men forget that women are different - and this is especially true for guys who aren't really used to spending a lot of time around women - and so they treat them like they would treat a guy friend - using funny, often ironic insults that he doesn't really mean to show that they're close friends. Of course, most women do NOT "get" this kind of banter and take it personally - even when they know what it is. That's women's nature, and smart guys learn this early on. Some guys are slower to catch on, and some really just have so little experience being around women that they make a lot of mistakes before they get it right.

Is he the asshole here? Yes - but know that he doesn't MEAN to be. He's just inexperienced, or a bit of an idiot - he's almost certainly not just being mean.
