It isnāt conservative or anti woke or whatever, it is just being dominant leaning during sex for me, being aggressive (to a healthy extent), being masculine / proud of my masculinity, I don't know if these count however Iām owning up to it now.
Iām willing to own up to my mistakes, my faults, etc. I donāt shield it to preserve my ego or whatever. I donāt flash money or brag about getting B*tches or whatever. Iām kind, down to earth, honest, and truthful.59 Reply- +1 y

@valentina4eva Exactly, thank you!
I always say real āAlphasā are nice guys, who show heart while still being strong / willing to kick ass lmao. Need to balance all those emotions / feelings and use it in a positive not a negative spiteful egotistical self centered way that isnāt at the expense of others. - +1 y
@MisterWack Those are all good traits and called being a healthy adult. I don't think the way you're describing yourself means Alpha but who cares because it's a stupid childish thing insecure men call themselves to feel better about themselves. You're self description is 1000 times better. Good for you. If this isn't clear I'm complimenting you not digging at you at all. Most 32 yr olds don't act as mature as you described yourself.

@Friendlybro79
Exactly! Also I knew you werenāt digging at me, you told it like it is.
I just donāt think the word āalphaā will go away and to me when a man is trying his best, can control his aggression, is in love with a special lady also is kind, nice, gentle, and honest that doesnāt mean he has to give up on his āmasculinityā. You can be all those things while being proud of their appearance without the approval of others. That is why I posted what I posted⦠Sure Iām not a pea brained insecure moron however I am a person with a heart and that much I know. I count the āmasculineā aspect as āAlphaā though that doesnāt mean you have to sacrifice the soft, warm, loving feelings. - +1 y
@MisterWack You sound like a really good person and your parents should be proud. Also as someone old enough to be your parent (it's so weird lol) who doesn't have kids, feels hopeful for the future. Continue being yourself and you'll influence others in a positive way. Have a great day my man.

+1 yProbably not.. People who exaggerate about ANYTHING are usually fantasists living in cloud cuckoo land!

Truth.
+1 yAny man who says heās an āalphaā is just lonely and needing validation.
First of all, the alpha-beta theory in wolves was disproven by the same man who wrote the theory. It turns out when you forcefully introduce wolves into an unfamiliar environment (as they did in Yellowstone where he initially studied this) things get aggressive and hierarchal but itās not a natural instinct. When he tried to recreate it with wild wolves, he saw the only hierarchy that even came close to resembling what he saw was that between wolf cub and parent. Of course the disproval didnāt nearly carry the same weight as the initial theory did so it didnāt catch on as quick.
Second of all, applying animal social theory to human social structures is just asking for trouble to begin with. Weāre not wolves, thereās no āalphaā or ābetaā or āsigmaā in humans unless you want to get into the omegaverse (trust me, you DO NOT want to do that). Humans are indeed hierarchal thinkers but that hierarchy is so much more complicated than some greek alphabets. You remember cliques in high school? Those are hierarchies within hierarchies, social groups with their own leaders and followers as they all live and work around each other in the hierarchy of a high school where everyone is separated by class, which also compares to the hierarchy of early teens and older teens and the young teachers and old teachers. This is like 9 different base-level hierarchies without exploring other social phenomena in humans. To whittle it down to this alpha nonsense is not only silly, but just plain ignorant of just how complicated humans can be in their own social structures.
And men who do this are usually buying into some social idea of masculinity that makes them feel validated because of whatever the hell happened to them as kids that didnāt make them feel like the manly identity they wanted to be and frankly? Men who call themselves alphas unironically are usually the worst kind of people.30 ReplyYou mean aside from the fact that the idea of an inherently "alpha" individual is actually based on faulty science produced in the observation of wolf social dynamics (which was later renounced and corrected by the original author)? AKA it's not a thing?
But generally speaking, if you need to boast about how powerful or dominant you are, you're probably neither of those things.
Besides, the traits that we ascribe to the concept of an alpha are actually traits that can be learned or developed as much as anything. Ex. physical strength? Go to the gym. Good leadership/charisma? Study psychology and take a public speaking course. Assertive? Just a matter of confidence and a desire to be heard. Work on your self image physically and emotionally, and you'll naturally be able to be more assertive when it matters. It's also the case that people have different talents and interests, leading them to be more assertive or "alpha", if that's the term you prefer, depending on the context (home, work, a sports game, a legal trial, etc).
The idea of people inherently being "alpha" or not diminished humans to a bunch of pre-sets and ignores the inherent versatility and growth potential that has rendered the human species evolutionarily successful.
30 Reply4.9K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. If a man is an alpha male, he won't need to tell anyone - they'll know, and there really won't be any question about it. Most guys who claim this title for themselves are not in fact alpha males.
The same thing happens with women - for example, tons of women love to claim that they are "strong and independent" when they are anything but. That's not to say that there aren't strong and independent women, but they don't need to claim these things - anyone who spends 5 minutes around them will know what they are. My aunt, for example, owned and ran a trucking company for 35 years, running 20-30 trucks, which means dealing with truckers (who aren't exactly wilting lilies) and various construction contractors. She is tough and smart and didn't take crap from anyone, but she also didn't need to ever tell anyone she was strong and independent.
There *could* be times when these kinds of traits might come up in a conversation, where someone might say "I tend to be more of a...", but outside of these exceptions, people who have to loudly claim they are this or that are almost never those things, and are usually desperate to convince people around them and most of all, themselves, that what they're saying is true.

+1 yI don't get why it's so hard for some people to believe that there's categories for personality types among people. Just because Google says it's a myth doesn't mean it is one. Would you say that there are people that are naturally more confident and charismatic even at early ages and throughout their lives? Would you say that people naturally have different personalities? If the answer is yes to those, then why can't there be different categories for personality types among people?
Sorry I know that doesn't answer your question, but I had to address all the people saying it's not a myth.
To answer your question, if someone calls themselves confident, does that make them arrogant? No. You can be confident and say you're confident. People just tend to react terribly to other people's confidence and want to take them down a notch, but when people are feeling down about themselves they try to support them and tell them to be more confident. It's strange contradiction.
Yes you can have an alpha male personality and call yourself an alpha. It depends on the context and the tone, but you can.
I'm certainly not an alpha. I've done an in depth assessment using multiple personality tests and my result is that I'm a sigma personality type.10 Reply 663 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. If someone says that just because a man called himself something, then he has to be the opposite, must then logically agree that all women that claim they are not promiscuous/pro sti tutes/ gold diggers, etc. ALL must be. See how that works?
There definitely IS a difference, just like there is with wild animals, and people are NOT equal at all, BUT there are also fake, low quality, scumbag people like some of the fake men's rights people that are hypocrites and claim that a man can have a past of sexual promiscuity and it doesn't damage his ability to pair bond long term. YES it does, just like it does for women.
Things do need to be done for men's rights, but the hypocritical liars like Myron and others actually damage the cause, by promoting immoral behavior. And many women that pretend to be alphas (they call themselves "strong and independent women") lie constantly too because they are often weak and helpless and rely almost exclusively on money to get others to do stuff for them because they are incompetent and incapable themselves, all the while, using things created by MEN.

+1 yLook I think most men and women who get into this whole thing are losers. I think the most happy people are people who genuinely fall in love. But people who sleep around all the time have forgotten what that is.
I think a lot of these men are lacking something and they put on this public display because theyāre hurting inside. Some of the incels as well have been genuinely hurt by a lot of people. Itās not to say there isnāt good women out there. But you have women who also are losers and hate men and it just turns into this low IQ nonsense. As you see all the time on GAG.
If a man tells you over and over again heās a alpha. It may not be worth your time to get into it with him. A lot of these people donāt think logically and are in their own state of mind of what they feel is right.
20 ReplyIf you have to tell people that you are something, that you have a certain "status", if you have to convince them that you are this very thing... trust me, you're not that thing. Besides, this alpha / beta / sigma bullshit's just hilarious from the POV of someone who's unfortunately acquainted with fanfiction tropes...
32 Reply- +1 y
yaa thatās basically what i was thinking too! how does it relate to fanfiction tropes, i donāt know anything about that?
Men who call themselves "alpha males" often adopt the term based on a misconception of dominance and social hierarchy. True alpha traitsāsuch as confidence, leadership, and respectāare usually recognized by others, not self-proclaimed. Genuine alphas demonstrate qualities like empathy, integrity, and the ability to inspire and uplift others, rather than relying on aggressive or domineering behavior. Self-declared "alpha males" may often be seeking validation or attempting to project an image of strength. Authentic leadership and influence are typically evident through actions and the respect they naturally earn from others, rather than through labels or self-promotion.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/LtCmSF_gHCw10 ReplyI find that entire male hierarchy thing to be pretty hilarious.
I jokingly pronounced myself as an alpha once here in fun about a year ago, and two guys here pounced on me within seconds.
I think that they were so triggered by my self-proclamation that they failed to recognize the joking part of my statement.
They're actually a couple of pretty decent guys, and when they finally saw that I was joking, then we all had a good time laughing about it.
But, yeah, they weren't about to let me claim alpha for more than a second or two.
Actually, according to those tests you can take online that'll tell you what you are, I always come up as a Sigma.
OOOOWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO10 Reply752 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Most alphas aren't really alpha. They are just the kinds of guys who throw their weight around, try to be the dominant voice or figure in groups of other men, and like to one up each other in groups, and call that being alpha. That's not alpha, that's bad behavior.
These same guys are also the ones who will get in their feelings if another guy does exactly to them what they do to people. They are also the kinds of guys who tend to be jealous and possessive of a girl they like or are dating, wanting her not to talk to other guys and worrying if she does.
"Alpha"-ism is basically little dick energy at it's finest. Brawn but no brains. Big muscles and flexing but having a little one down there. And they usually don't know how to please women in bed, let alone really care if the woman enjoys it.
10 Reply- 1.7K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic.
+1 yWhat I believe is that real high quality guys don't want female attention. They flee from woman who pay attention to them unless they are single and interested in her.
I've googled multiple high status guys I know and 80% of them are either not on social media or online with very limited profiles cause they know there are a lot of woman that want to date them and they don't want the attention or they are already married.
They have social media but it's private, with no photos and they have almost no friends on their list.
10 Reply 1.4K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. In the normal world, I would say no. However if you stuck me in a prison & the biggest dude in there said, "I'm alpha" he's probably not lying. Based on his experience of dominating the world he lives in he is correct.
Interesting when a self declared Alpha meets other dudes in the real world tho cause often the Alpha wants to dominate but the other guy can ignore/defeat him in many ways. But that's probably because we have various social rules that keep the 'alpha' from acting like a total wild animal. Just guessing. I suppose if all the social rules were taken away, a lot of guys who don't seem very dominate would then become that. And guys who seem intimidating would be revealed to be weak too.
10 Reply1.2K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. I would never call myself an alpha. I see alphas as two broad categories. Type A think it is a matter of bullying. It never works well for obvious reasons. Type B focus on inspiring others to achieve. That does work.
I think most men who would call themselves alphas will be in Type A.
For myself every thing about sigmas rings true in me. I like devising solutions and plans. I can do the inspirational leadership in order to realize my solution. If I couldn't I wouldn't have a job but I do it because I need to mostly. I do get a kick at bringing people on nearer to their potential but I'd rather work on solutions and plans.
Mostly I think Type A's are stupid and ignorant. They think their ideas will work because they thought of it whereas I will think they shouldn't have unsupervised thoughts.
Type B's I respect and they are usually smart enough to come to me for the solution and plan so we can work well together.

But to answer your question, no. There are a few exceptions of course, but true "alphas" rarely call themselves that. Unit/spec op guys are a perfect example of that. They're trained fighters, the very best in the world at killing efficiently. These guys are clearly "alphas:" good fighters, great self control, and successful. But guess what? +1 y"Alpha males" are a product of David Mech misunderstanding the mechanics of a wolf pack. The idea has less scientific validity than pholgiston or phrenology, since a skull deformed by, say, a having a crate fall on it COULD very well lead to predictable personality traits, and a fluid like caloric WOULD function vaguely like a multidimensional "string".
Please familiarize yourself with the basic elements of existence in the dimension you currently reside in. Failing that, at least pick an INTERESTING debunked theory to proclaim as the truth. Spontaneous generation, maybe.
