Guy paid for his own birthday drinks?

I asked a guy if he wanted to get drinks with me for his birthday. He said yes. When it came time to pay, he paid. I said no I will but he insisted. Why would he do that?

You put him under pressure since you asked him to go for a drink and him, being a gentleman, did not want you to have to settle the tab just because it is his birthday. It could also have been because the drinks were expensive or that he has a better income than you.

There are so many reasons why someone would pay for drinks even though he was invited for a drink by someone else.

Now, there could be something else brewing in his mind and that would have been that he could ask you for another "favor" in exchange for him paying for the drinks.

Men's minds are twisted at times.

I wouldn't have allowed it too if I was him.
My assumption is that it is possibly a cultural thing. Here the person who is celebrating their birthday pays for the drinks.
