So he asked me what I “wanted “ relationship wise… I wanted to know what he was going to say so I let him go first. He said he wasn’t ready because he’s not where he wants to be career wise. So then he told me to go and I said the same thing.. because it was kind of true and I actually mentioned it prior…

There were a few problems there but the main issues are that

• If felt you were just saying what you thought he wanted to hear because you refused to answer his question until you heard his answer.
• His answer told you that he isn't interested in dating you, but then your response made it seem like you were still trying make a connection with him.

He’s annoyed because he thought you were just copying him. Explain to him that it’s how you really feel and you just happen to agree with him.
