Why is he copying me?

Recently got reunited with a childhood friend.. and.. he is copying me..
Example, I'd say i like sweets, he'll then go around identifying himself as a pastry lover or copy some of my mannerisms and traits, say he's into what i'm interested in, it's like he's not being himself and he copies only me amongst our other friends.

I think it sounds like he is interested in you, therefore is trying to impress you by mentioning things you like in hope that you pay attention to him and say, "oh wow, he likes what I like".
