We were in the car and he looked at her like why does he even have to look she’s literally just sitting there. He’s been caught doing this many times. It’s annoying and hurts me. The point is she smirked at me. He then proceeds to tell me “he thought she was an old lady” which just isn’t true. He couldn’t help but smile as well because he just got a huge ego boost. I’m not hurt about the glance at this girl but it’s just the disposition of letting her have one over me. Why would my boyfriend want another girl to think that she’s better than me? Which her reaction was to smirk at me about him looking at her. I feel insulted by him and especially her. What should I do?

Well it’s one thing to smile but it depends on the intentions behind it. Especially because he’s smirking and telling lies it seems he’s doing this to hurt you.

It could come from a place of insecurity so he’s trying to make you jealous. In a healthy relationship if someone has insecurities it can be communicated with one another. But if it isn’t then it comes out in passive aggressive and even aggressive ways.

As for me, I smile at people all the time just to be nice without anything romantic behind it. But you do have to understand that, some people are like this.

It’s like if he’s scared you’re gonna cheat or leave him for somebody else (despite the fact it will make you leave faster) some people think flirting with other people especially if they flirt back. Will show the other person that hey I have other options too, hey I’m worth fighting for, hey I can cheat on you before you can cheat on me….. Things like that. At the end of the day when trust is gone it’s the end.

If he has insecurities he should be able to tell you and you should be able to listen and talk things through. Same for you to him and many times once things are talked through it makes things much stronger having a deeper understanding of one another as well as reassurance. But at the same time it could be the end of things and both people can move on, on good terms.

Wow you went from zero to 100 pretty quickly there.. to go from 'he looked and smiled' to 'he thinks she's better than me!' is just insanity! you should probably let him go for his sake here and get some help. it doesn't sound healthy to think like this.

But of course you probably won't... so my advice is to just get over it. sometimes we just look, it happens. you can tell us not to do until you are blue in the face... but you have to be more emotionally mature about it and realize that he's with YOU not her, not any other girl. he's with you because he chose you specifically. Now that doesn't mean we are blind, that doesn't mean we still can't think other women are pretty. it just means you are the one he chose and in that moment YOU are the best one. but when you let your emotions and jealousy and control issues get to the best of you... well THAT is what will make him wanna leave... hope you get this at some point.
