I agree with the overall sentiment, but not for the reason that women care about the hobby's relation to whether the man can protect.

I think women respond better to certain hobbies because it's a reflection of the man's values/approach to life and what sort of attention he's going to pay to her.

Think about it, would you rather date someone whose hobby keeps them active, engaged in life, and leads them to do things you can talk with your friends about, or would you rather date someone whose hobby requires not real effort, keeps them inside and away from other people, and doesn't really connect with you as something you can enjoy with him?

Frankly if you think of it for a few seconds there really aren't many hobbies that would fit this to make a man look desirable, unless he's building or fixing things then that's really all. Unless a man finds those things to be fun although they just sound a lot like work then, there really aren't many things a man could do that wouldn't seem childish to some women. I mean there is also hunting which is a slightly uncommon thing for people who never been raised that way. But can be fun for those that are into it.

Disagree lol. In fact when guys try too hard to appear what they think is masculine and you can tell it's not genuine and it's what they believe women want, it comes off fake and desperate. Which is unattractive alpha garbage. We can tell the difference between fake confidence and genuine confidence, which is being yourself organically no matter what.

Plenty of masculine guys play video games. Pretty much every guy I've ever known played video games lol.

The problem is playing children's games isn't really a hobby is it? I know some guys here will argue they're not for children but let's be honest, they are and most women will agree. Video games scream a guy hasn't grown up yet.

A hobby should demonstrate he has both enough spare time and cash to indulge in his interests. Poor people have hobbies like watching TV because they can't afford to do things. A man without interests simply isn't interesting.

Sounds irrelevant. I don't personally see the point in them but know plenty of people who are brilliant self-supporting individuals with a variety of interests that play them almost obsessively. They could wonder about your activities as well. I've heard plenty pf stories like "My Dad plays golf every Saturday. I don't understand why he does it as it costs a fortune and doesn't seem close to a ". ( I play golf so I'm not picking that one deliberately). I also sail a lot and have heard many people say that you can get the same experience you get from sailing by standing in a cold shower and tearing up $100. .
As the saying goes, "nobody has ever lain ion their deathbed thinking " I wish I spent more at the office"

I disagree. Not everything about a man has to be about protecting, producing or procreating. However, I must say that 5 of these hobbies are unattractive to me.

That’s a load of bollox (as long as it’s not a huge amount of hours). If you go to pretty much any military unit deployed on operations you will find guys playing Xbox or PS games in their downtime, it’s that or go insane from watching tv.
