He ended our 5 month situationship abruptly, then about 2 weeks later he’s liking my Instagram story, why?

After ending things, we went no contact. Then randomly two weeks later, he views my story for the first time in almost a month and liked the picture of a shared interest. We ended on decent terms, but still doesn’t this seem too soon to do?

Yeah I don’t know what it is, some people start missing someone after a while especially if they think they can find better but don’t they may come running back.

Most of the times situationships aren’t healthy especially where there isn’t clear communication where you stand with each other. Sometimes it’s just using someone for the time being but not wanting any kind of committal to the other person. It’s just filling a void for the time being. Even if you’re not really that persons type.

Yeah we were both in transitional phases when we started this which lead to both of us wanting casual, but we didn’t keep up communication on where we were at the months that followed, it started feeling more and more like a relationship and when I asked him how he felt about being more serious with me he said he enjoyed being with me but wasn’t sure yet and had to think about it then a week later he ends things. He was very validating of my looks and personality traits throughout our whole time, which made it seem like he did like me but then abruptly ended it. So the like two weeks later is just annoying to me cause I don’t want to play games. Just wondering if guys think this situation is normal and I’m over analyzing a harmless like

Well unfortunately when it starts out as a game…. That’s more often then not how it ends. Most causal situations there is one person who becomes a lot more attached then the other sometimes that’s the woman while other times it’s the man.

You could ask him why he did it because it could be a lot of things. But at least you have closure it’s over some people don’t even end things….. They just assume you know to move on without ever directly saying It

Communication is important too because two people may assume two entirely different things but one another thinks they’re on the same page when they’re in fact not even in the same book.

Someone may feel like it’s more exclusive then it is, someone may feel there is more of a connection then there is, and the list goes on. One person may be not intending for it to go anywhere while the others hearing wedding bells, it’s not usually that extreme but somehere in the middle

I don’t think you’re over analyzing it. I mean someone seemed genuinely interested and abruptly ended things sort of out of the blue.

One reason could possibly be he found somebody else, that happens a lot when someone just finds somebody else to spend time with they loose interest. Maybe he kind of figured you’re not the right time for him and/or vice versa doesn’t think he’s the right fit for you.

Maybe he just thought the same thing maybe he realized he was kinda scared playing games and wanted something more serious with somebody else.

It could be a million reasons as well as a combination of things

This social media significance of an interaction to a story/post is killing me but 😆
That's not the point, let's say it became a norm, for some circles, to relate to such artifacts to find meaning.

You talk about time frames, it's a thing but it's way less important than personalities or breakup scenario explained, in this situation. Which means I'm speculating with... Almost zero information here. Hard to find this productive, for anyone.

I get social media is not very significant, but after going no contact it feels like the only life line of potential communication which makes it feel more significant I guess. After consistently not watching anything for a month it felt like we were on the path of leave this behind and move forward, so I’m just confused on why even send the like knowing this is still pretty fresh. In terms of personality he is a very friendly guy but made it seem like the ending of this was in protection of my feelings cause he didn’t want to lead me on if he didn’t want a relationship, so that leaves me thinking if you are trying to protect my feelings why even engage with me after only 2 weeks.

You know, while I rant about social media significance, I might think that it becomes important when everyone in your circle deems it important. Why not. But it doesn't and it shouldn't replace the good old talks between people, that's where my rant really is lol

Okay, thanks for the new elements. So we get the situation with hesitating guy and assuming kindness. Then I think you're maybe looking at the guy not hesitating anymore? It's a possibility, after two weeks of thinking... It is plausible to view his comeback like this. It also means that you'll need to assess what's in his head... It means the good old talking time, we're back at it and we always will :)

Haha I love the full circle answer. I agree it shouldn’t replace old fashion talks, but I’ve already reached out and said my peace and he seemed steadfast in not wanting anything with me. So I would love to know what’s in his head but don’t want to reach out to him since he ended it I feel as though he should reach out to me if he changed his mind. Plus I don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t want to be with me but this like has just got my head racing since the ending felt abrupt I wasn’t sure if he’d change his mind this quickly. This is why I just feel like it’s too soon if he doesn’t want anything but he’s not reaching out so I’m sure he hasn’t changed his mind.

Looking wouldn’t mean anything to me. But liking is a direct acknowledgment where I now get notified and think about them. 2 weeks is just very soon I’m not over it yet so I don’t want to be buddy buddy just yet.
