Were good friends and perhaps he got confused, I don't know, we decided to be friends cus ultimately I didn't see it too much but before that he said he didn't either. So what he just told everything for what reason? Why open a door you had no intention of walking through?

Honestly it kinda sounds like he just wanted the attention of telling you he has feelings, whether he really did or not. Like maybe his ego was bruised that you didn't see it going further, so he had to throw that out there.

Or it's possible in the moment he did feel something but got scared off by the possibility of actually dating. Who knows what goes through their crazy heads!

Ultimately don't waste your time stressing over it. You made the right call to just stay friends. And now you know not to take anything he says about feelings too seriously.
