I just found out that it’s not a party. It’s just a couple of friends meeting up at a bar. So still highly suspect it’s to show me off

His friend is having a party and he wants to go. Maybe because he feels it's polite to attend a friend's party he was invited to. Maybe because he thinks it will be fun. If he's taking you, I don't think he's got anything going on with her romantic lyrics. Stop over thinking. Go to the party and have a good time.
