Yes. I don't believe in mandatory conscription. But I would fight if this country was actually attacked.

The U. S. hasn't been involved in a justifiable war since WWII.

The Vietnam war was happening when I was a kid. There was no way I was going to go kill Vietnamese people and risk being killed. The U. S. should have never been involved in the first place.

In high school, I was out protesting against the war and the draft.

Thank goodness the last draft call was on December 7, 1972, just before I turned 18 and became eligible. And the authority to induct expired on June 30, 1973.

When I was younger I was all for it. That was the reason why a lot of us joined the military, mainly infantry. But now that I’m older even if they could take me, no. I don’t think men should die for other idiots, especially manny of them in Washington DC who send men to war. Selective services needs to be outlawed. Let these other countries fight their own wars. Too many countries ask for help then talk shit about the US saying we’re involved in everyone’s business.
