Guy's Behavior

Guys, If we are truly not meant to be why is he on my path, like he's literally in my college class and he will be for the next few years?

For more context, I'm a female of 23 years of age and the guy in question is 24. He is exactly my type, with minor differences but spot on if you know what I mean. I always said I wanted a gentleman, a guy who is kind, God fearing and funny. He also happens to have these dark features like dark wavy hair, bushy eyebrows and these beautiful dark brown eyes. This is literalky what I told my friend a year ago, when asked what my exact type was, and I never thought I'd actually meet a guy like that. However, we don't even talk apart for a few encounters, our friend groups seem to overlap but never us, and he has a girlfriend. So like timing and circumstance wise things are not in my favour and I'm not a home wrecker, I just find myself very drawn to him and it won't go away. Like almost every encounter we have is awkward and idle, hope it isn't because he dislikes me.
