Girls, Is it wrong that I meet him even though I've started seeing someone?

So I (23) met a guy (26) online about 4months ago. We texted all the time, did vid calls, lots of fun and connected quite well. But haven't been able to meet due to distance, schedules etc.

I have just started seeing someone, so said to him we need to text less but agreed to be friends.

I also agreed that we should still meet. Is it right that I keep his number and still meet with him later next month even as a friend? If I meet him for the first time, is it possible that I will end up wanting to date him?

I have people saying that because I am young, I should keep my options open to an extent and at least meet him once. And others saying I shouldn't, even if it's just as friends.

I went through something similar. Short answer from my experience: Yes, meet him, even if it's just as "friends".
I met a guy online and spoke with him almost everyday for about 4/5months, and like you, distance, time and the first few lockdowns were getting in the way of us meeting.

Anyway, I started to see someone on a more exclusive basis, and told the other guy that we wouldn't really be able to talk as much and probably shouldn't meet. Things didn't work out after about a month with the guy I was seeing. I contacted the first guy and asked if he wanted to meet, he said he was seeing someone, but would still like to meet as a friend.

So I met him, and after meeting him, I was full of regret. He was what I wanted. I wish I had met him when I started seeing the other guy. Seeing someone, to me, means dating exclusively, so not in a fully committed relationship, so it's okay.

All in all, you should definitely meet him. If you find out it wouldn't work, fine, at least you know. If you find out he is what you want, fine, you're in the early stages with someone without FULL commitment. Choose your happiness. But don't leave it too long, you can bet your ass he's seeing other girls too. You have not even met each other, give it the chance, you never know. You've both put so much effort into each other already. You are young, you don't even know what you want yet, and he may be it! So keeping an option of some sort is okay.

I should also mention, this seems to be quite a common thing happening more and more recently. So you're not alone in this.

You can do whatever you want. If you are not in a committed relationship when both parts have specifically agreed to it, then you are completely free. If you find out the other guy is a better match then that is fine. But if you pursue things with the original guy and still talk with the other knowing he may be into you, it could be wise to cut it off.

Meet him and see how you feel about him in person. If nothing happens and you have a good friendship, then great you still have a friendship too.
