Did my male friend catch feelings?

Long story short, my male friend is single and is not seeing anybody exclusively. He’s said the he knows who to call when he gets lonely, but no feelings. Recently, him and I have gotten very close but we’ve kept it pretty platonic. But when we are together, whether in public or driving, he’ll reach for my hand and hold it. When we’re in the car, he’ll put his hand on my leg. We’ve kissed ONE time when we were drunk. I guess what I want to know is, from perspective, is a man going to hold your hand out in public if there’s no feelings involved? I don’t think he even goes out in public with his bootycalls. Sooooo I’m like, what’s going on.

ALSO!! One time he was passenger, but I was sitting in the back, so he reached back so he could my hand. Dude also texted me saying he finds my touch comforting. I’m confused.

The thing is that you have given him the totally wrong signals by allowing him to touch you and to hold hands with you.

You obviously indicated that it is okay for him to move a step further and to attempt to get into your pants if you don't pull back and put him back in his place.

However, I get this feeling that YOU are actually doing everything possible for him to make his next move. If you would not allow him to become so personal, he would never have put his hand on your leg or knee and the story would have ended right there.

Well, not really. The first time he held my hand, I was going through a really bad break up and I thought he was holding my hand as comfort while I was talking and crying. And ever since that happened it has been consistent whenever we are together.

You see, getting closer to a person that is emotionally on the lowest is a good strategic move because that person knows that you may need comforting. What better way to wiggle himself into your life than to give you "support" when you need it most.

Holding hands doesn't mean much. I hold hands with all my friends and nobody is catching feelings. I think you are overthinking this.
