Dealing with boys as a teacher?

I am a new teacher and I honestly love the job! However, i’ve noticed the boys in the school do not respect me at all for two reasons. 1 is because i am a woman… and 2 is because i am 5’2… they act like I don’t exist when i give them instructions & they continue to fight infront of me even when I intervene and try to break fights by injecting myself physically they act like i am not there and hit each other simply because they know i actually can’t physically stop them if they choose to fight. How am i supposed to demand respect if they dc lol. Also my male counterparts don’t seem to experience this. The male teacher yells onceeee and they change their whole attitude. He notices when they ignore me & my orders and yells at them and i am so grateful cause that shows them they have to respect all of us equally!!! Any tips?😩

You have to stand up to them. They dont listen to you because you have shown them they dont have to. Calling in the man teacher to take control for you just shows the boys they still have control over you. They see that male teacher and want that respect he has he shows you in their minds. There are two ways to get respect. Give it and it back. Or earn it.

I dont really have an answer. Try and Make the kids want to listen to you, you are going to have to stand up to them. I'd make them respect me if i were you. If a fight happened i would be in the middle of the fight holding one back with one had and the other down with the other hand. A teacher is responsible for the kids if you can't be, i wouldn't want you teaching... The entire class would write i will respect my teacher untill their hand doesn't work to close a fist to fight. They would learn to hate me more then each other if they didn't give back the respect I first gave. show them they have to or else. Kids dont know the best way you are the teacher. I dont mean to be rude. I know this is a difficult situation. I hope you will figure this out before a serious fight. You have to be the role model for these kids dont show them men can control women.

What's pivotal about this scene is that Private Pyle couldn't help but smile while Drill Instructor Sergeant Hartman to him not to. Hartman lays down the law. Pyle stops smiling and realizes he better not piss off the sergeant again.

Now, I don't know how old these boys are and that would help me understand what you are up against, but you too are going to have to lay down the law at some point to illustrate to these boys that you are not fucking around. Talk to that male teacher about what I suggest.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but grow a backbone. Don’t be afraid of them. If they know you’re afraid of them, they’ll run all over you. Remember, you are the adult in the room, not them. I don’t care how big or tall they are. I used to be a substitute teacher and I’m 4’8”. They knew I meant business and wasn’t playing around. For the most part, they took me seriously. Oh I dealt with my fair share of disrespectful students, male and female, but I never folded. You can’t.

You must realize that boys after a certain age are on their way to manhood and start to not like when told what to do.
What you explained is exactly the reason why boys without dads are so much more likely to be criminals.
Boys soon lose the fear factor for their moms. They don't like being ordered around by a man either but that is where the man or father's ability of indirect physical intimidation comes in.

So you might want to encourage gender roles here. Doing exactly what the male teacher does won't fetch the same result. You need a feminine approach.
