Are guys really not able to process everything that we say?

I just read an article that says when men don't listen to us, it is because we are able to talk faster than they can always process. I found this fascinating. Do you believe this?

Let me tell you something unrelated for a moment. Recently I have been having a lot of fun with my retro PC. It began a few months ago when I had the idea to use a virtual modem again. It was always such a hassle to setup I had to install Linux and then remember how to run that script as root while still making the audio work. But then when I had a virtual machine that could do this I no longer have to do that. Its so much more fun now. I turn the machine on and I just use dialup like the good old days. Its fun because I hooked it up to a proxy that actually makes the internet how it used to be. Its allowing me to experience some nostalgic things like popcaps bigmoney game or some of the miniclip flash games and newgrounds animations. Oh and the mouse now works reliably again I have been having some issues with it but that went away which was exciting. So far I already reinstalled Windows 98 to get a clean start for the year.

Did you get all that or did I type to fast? If you totally zoned out from that or skipped over it because its boring stuff which you have no clue about welcome to the real reason that guys don't keep up haha.

He's either tuning out because its uninteresting or to foreign for him to follow. In my ramble about retro computers I tried to emulate what that feels like. Hope it helps.

I wouldn't say that's the reason, no.

Mostly, when a man isn't listening, it's because women overexplain, using a lot of superfluous information that just doesn't matter to us.

Guys like short, factual information that's organized and presented in a logical way. We just need to know what happened. We don't usually care about how it happened, why it happened, and especially not how anyone feels about what happened.

As an example, when we get a phone call from another guy, it goes like this:

"Hey, just wanted to let you know: Steve is in the hospital."

"Thanks, is there anything I can do?"

"Nah, he had surgery, and he'll be out in three days."

"Cool."

Women can get the same phone call, from another woman, and they need to know why he's in the hospital, what happened, was he doing something stupid, why he was doing something stupid, how his wife is coping, if the kids are alright, does everybody else know, when visiting hours are, who's going to visit, when they're going to visit, how Steve's mom took the news, how much is this going to cost, why didn't Steve get the better insurance plan when he had the chance, if his bitch of a sister is going to visit (so they can avoid her), how the kids are doing in school, all about that cute lamp his wife bought, if he's ever going to get that shitty car fixed, where they're planning on going on vacation, if Steve is doing anything for their anniversary...

The guy's phone call gave us all the information we needed. Steve's in the hospital, he'll live, and there's nothing we need to do. Anything else is irrelevant to us. It's not that we don't care, we just don't need the extra information.

I like to get the facts and go from there.
Some women take their conversations with me all around the world and I don't have a clue what they're trying to say.🙄

I don't need a 45 minute conversation just for information that can be relayed in 45 seconds. 😔

Sometimes when someone goes on and on and on about something, I just look at them and say "So, in a nutshell, what are you saying"?
I guess I think 🤔 like a guy then, because I am the same way!

If she wanted help, I'd do the same as you; ask her to break it down. If she was just venting, it just became background noise.

There are little hair follicles in our ears that capture sounds and frequencies. Folks tend to lose a few follicles at a time every few years. Over time SCIENCE has shown that guys APPARENTLY stop hearing their wife's voice clearly bc the decibel is too high to be heard with the missing follicles. Poor bastards...

No, but men have very short verbal attention span and lose concentration if they hear fast talk for too long. That's why you have to learn to talk slowly and emphasize important points in your talk when you want they hear what you say.

It's because we don't care. Usually 2 minutes in to yet another 15-minute dissertation on which way the spoons go in the dishwasher I am already thinking of ways to try to pick up another tenth at the track, or where I am going for lunch on my motorcycle tomorrow, and when was the last time I lubed my chain.

And then men will go "the divorce came out of nowhere", when likelihood the days are filled with shit like this. 😂

@twodecisions. So, you are one of these women who give these 15 minute lectures? Who cares how spoons go in as long as they dont get caught in the spray arm or basket. Some things women harass guys out are so petty, that we develop selective hearing. Rarely, is it the guy being an ass. It's our method of conflict avoidance.

That I am not no since I don't need too. I'm fortunate to be with a man that actually listens to what I say and not only that but also cares what I've to say and vice versa. Setting your partner on as "background noise" and not caring is being an ass no matter the reasoning behind it.
