m 1 moNo. I have walked through dozens of cities at night alone, foreign and domestic. The outskirts wildlife can be scarier (I encountered wild boars and a pack of stray dogs).

m 1 moI never have... and that wasn't a good thing, maybe... lol
I was too curious as a kid, so I would always go out at night, in the dark and look around to see what I could find... both my grandma and great-grandma had/lived in big lands and as much as I was told that the "lechuzas", the chupacabra, witches or el diablo himself would come and get me... I never really believed that stuff
as a teen, I never had my own car, or any car I could just go and take off... so I would walk out to anywhere or take the buses, get off and keep walking to everywhere in the middle of the night, often alone... till I made it to friends or whatever
and when I was 20 or so, I went around places and street that I should probably have not walked alone too late at night but oh well... I was lucky that my "calculated risks" never really tested me that much, lol
funny thing was that... I could see others might have been scared of me, when they realized I had been walking right behind them in the dark of the night, and they never really noticed me, lmao...00 Reply 4.9K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Rarely, but it happens. I don't go out to dangerous places at night very often, but situations do arise occasionally. I'm big enough and alert enough that most criminals would probably just choose someone else, but not all criminals are rational, and in groups, all bets are off.
Many women don't realize that men are twice as likely to be attacked on the streets than women are. It's less safe for us, not more, because violent criminals are much more ready and willing to use violence against other men.
If I have to be in a dangerous situation, I keep my situational awareness very high and I move swiftly and purposefully to the next safe location. That doesn't guarantee safety but it certainly increases my odds. I've trained my family and my girlfriend to do the same, and we have safety procedures and code words in place.10 Reply- 725 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic.
1 moI'm a big guy, I know people want to fight me. I'll walk at night in the city and catch people eyeing me. Like they're deciding to jump me from behind.
Literally the other day I was having a smoke on a dark sidewalk in Paterson. Got a weird feeling about this guy so I walked inbetewwn two cars and watched him through the reflection on the windshield and I don't think he could tell what I was doing because he turned around and stared at me for a minute till I turned my head and looked him in the eye.
Like nice try buddy 😂

1 moLolol! Oh, I love the gif you used! 🤣 And no, I really don't 'cuz I live in a really rural area and all we really have to worry about here is a rabid raccoon or coyotes or stuff like that. And I'm a girl! 🤣

got it - 1 mo
Nope, dictionary matters.
When scared means frightened, terrorized, then I wouldn't go to those districts, I would entirely avoid them, there are some districts I wouldn't go to, for this reason.
I'm vigilant instead, meaning I'm scanning the area, role playing a little out of character, and bracing for interactions I don't normally expect. Things like that

Having said that, where I live is, touch wood, pretty safe.
If I'm in the city, and roaming around at 11pm, of course I'm more vigilant.

How is safety in the Tube and NR trains?
- 1 mo
@DryGermanGuy what's a nr train?
- 1 mo
National Rail
- 1 mo
@DryGermanGuy I don't live in London and seldom get a train. My experience of public transport is its not as safe as it used to be, but its okay. Trams are a bit dodgy at night. Hence why I drive.
- 1 mo
Do you have surveillance cameras in trains/trams? We added these ten+ years ago.
- 1 mo
@DryGermanGuy Yes, they're there. But it's not going to help you during an altercation...
1.8K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Yes, you might imagine that we don't but I do, specificially if I encounter one other man alone on a quiet road. I am not a big guy and if this guy wanted to mug me he potentially could. I am also scared if I see a woman alone that she will get scared and think I am a creep.
10 Reply14.2K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. No I don’t at all unless I’m walking through the hood then you will be robbed that happened to me before many years ago, but justice was served they got him with police dogs it took two hours though, but I stayed there the whole time and then we had to go to court then he finally pleaded guilty
10 Reply1.2K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. There are quite toxic night snakes but hey! Its Australia so you should always be conscious of where you are putting your feet.
12 Reply- 1 mo
snakes are cool tho so no problemo
- 1 mo
Snakes might be cool but I live in a country with the top 6 deadliest snakes in the world. So kinda a problemo :)
There are a couple which are active at night. The inland taipan is the most venomous snake in the world. If bitten by one, you have 30 minutes left to live.
The common death adder mostly hunts at night. While in the top 10 most venomous, with good first aid you've got 6 hours to get to hospital before you die.

ofc you're afraid only of bears lol

1 moNope. In a city. On the side of a mountain. In a jungle or a desert. I’ve spent lots of time wandering around in the dark and sleeping on the ground in the dark. Not reall that scary for me.
10 Reply 1.7K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. I wouldn’t say scared , but there were times I was skeptical and nervous that something bad might happen , it also depended on where I was at at the time.

1 moMaybe not as much as I should. I get creeped out sometimes hiking in remote arias or riding my bike late at night. But, I still stay out there and do it anyway.
10 Reply414 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. No I dont have to worry outside at night. Most people rather leave me alone then to come and brother me. I have been told by a lot of people that I dont look very friendly and not very approachable

1 moNope. In White neighborhoods the crime is low and I don't have to worry about my neighbors. In Black neighborhoods, I'm White and everyone that lives there thinks I'm the police so they run like cockroaches and hide.
02 Reply- 1 mo
Especially when you take out a camera... They're like 5.0! 5.0! What you doing White boy don't take my picture.
- 1 mo
For a while I was rehabbing and flipping houses in low income areas. So we'd go into the neighborhood at random times and comp the house, take photos, and take down details about the condition for the money guys to see if they will finance the thing. So some White boys rolling into the hood at odd hours, snooping around crack houses taking photos, shining flash lights, and taking notes scares the shit out of Black folks. So many Black people asked me to not take there picture with a look of fear on their face, and I'd always ask, why you got a warrant out on you? Then they're like oh hell no and they'd run off. :D
Never, I used 2 work outside alone. When I went home I wood walk a few minutes 2 the parkin lot. I used 2 watch tree crime programs then about them catching murderers.
10 Reply3.1K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Never. I do not go out in the city and I stick to my neighborhood generally.

1 moNot really, but It's stupid and it makes me more at risk for getting attacked/robbed or something because I'm less aware of my surroundings.
00 Reply 2.2K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. I never get scared in the dark outside alone. I find the darkness very comforting. I far prefer the darkness to the daylight.
