Is my boyfriend lying about this ‘random girl’ or just being naive?

My boyfriend says a “weird girl” he has never met before near our apartment asked to use his phone. He helped her make two calls and even walked with her towards another building before stopping because she got “rude”.

Note: I have cameras facing the parking lot due to cars being broken into in the past.

What bothers me is how far he went to help her (their interaction last about 15-20 mins on and off). On camera, I can see he notices her, goes over to her after a few minutes, and they walk together. Then she gets close to him and even grabs his arm. If he truly didn’t know her, why was she so comfortable touching him, and why did he entertain it? I find it disrespectful, and honestly the camera footage makes it hard for me to fully believe his story.

I question if he liked the attention/interaction or was hoping for something to develop.
I also doubt his loyalty/honesty since he completely omitted the part (that she grabbed his arm). It also concerns me that he doesn’t set boundaries which can easily lead him into unwanted situations.

Lastly, due to how easily he walked with her to the front of another building and how touchy she was, it makes me wonder if she’s even a stranger at all.

Indeed, that behavior spells trouble. If a total stranger asks to use his smartphone to make a call, the the interaction lasts a maximum of 2 minutes.

My question is why would he accompany her during broad daylight to another building? Unless she convinced him that she was in physical danger and she needed company to get her home, his behavior is inconsistent. If she was indeed in danger, then he would have told you the entire story and not left the most important part out.

I would call this number that she asked to call and observe his reaction when you call it.

I just don’t get it first he calls a “guy” for her.. that practically ignores the call.. couple mins later a “taxi”. Like those independent drivers.

I just can’t get past the fact that he walks away with her. I can see he didn’t go inside another building or anything, but why continue to interact with her? He said the girl was telling him what address to tell the taxi driver and she got an attitude when he tried. Then that is why he stopped helping her.

I just would’ve not helped her period. Like there are also safety issues here what is it was a set up like to rob him or whatever.

At max, I would’ve called the taxi, gave them an address and then left.
If she was in danger we all know most phones are capable of allowing you to call 911 even without active service on your phone.

It is impossible to know for sure if he is lying or if what he told you is true. Can you check his phone to see what calls were made during the time period you were watching him on camera to see if that part of what he told you is true. If she truly is weird, she may have grabbed his arm. She may be a touchy person. I suggest you keep a close eye on him to see if he has any more interactions with her or if it was a onetime thing before you make any decisions about leaving him.

I can’t check his phone. I do realize that maybe the chick was weird I don’t have an issue with him helping honestly, this is more about the girls actions than anything. However, what bothers me is he enables her. One thing I did notice is she was using her phone later on.. it seemed like she was calling someone. Also, she was walking the same way she had walked from in the beginning of the video.

I just wonder if he really did know her or if she was actually trying to set him up because the first call was to a guy. I don’t trust people that’s all and it’s weird that she was hanging out way before like she was waiting for someone. So I just find the whole situation weird.

Right now I’m just letting it go, but I’ve already established that if he can easily be manipulated by a stranger to run around and just follow their every move or allow them to determine how things should be done he will only create issues for himself. So I’ve decided to just let things be, but I know myself if I see him displaying that behavior with other women I am not sure how I’m gonna react.

I think that he just said that she was rude to give you the impression that he wasn't going to have anything else to do with her. But that's just to throw you off track and to forget about it.

Just keep a close eye on him and if he's on his phone more he could be texting her.

I told him the video just doesn’t make sense. I’m disappointed and in disbelief. Even if she was the one pushing things, he allowed it. If it were me I would’ve redirected her and said, “Wendy’s is walking distance; just 10 mins away and has Wi-Fi”.

I am leaning towards breaking up with him because I cannot trust a man that omits things and also can’t set boundaries for himself.

Yeah it was around 2:50-3pm when I saw her pop up on the camera on a Wednesday. Also she was walking perfectly fine did not stumble when she was walking.

Maybe I am overreacting, but him interacting with a stranger he says he only helped because she was annoying him and omitted she grabbed his arm more than once is concerning. He didn’t start apologizing about it until he saw the video. I also have verbalized this is something I am uncomfortable with so it’s not like he isn’t aware about how this bothers me. However, this is a boundary he has stated would never want me to cross either. So technically I am not completely overreacting when he can’t protect my feelings, especially now that I am pregnant.
