In summary the media teaches young men that nerdy effeminate guys (usually played by Michael Sera) always get the girl with minimal effort, so why should men strive to improve themselves? He points out that this is leading to an underclass of unmotivated and directionless young males who are confused by the fact that they can't get a girlfriend.

Then there is this nerdy + effeminate contradiction to me, I see nerds, I see effeminate, but they don't blend at all around me

And then the rest of it feels like prepackaged influencer theory picking up random cultural clash to collect audience because living like a YouTuber is cool

I guess so. Funny thing, the video has been out there for five years, and just turned up in my feed. The algorithm works in mysterious ways!

I'm afraid youtube algorithm isn't that mysterious, it keeps throwing music at me because that's what I use YouTube for, surely sometimes it tries to show me some clickbait political flaming because it's trending I strongly assume but politely declining stops the machine every time

But yeah, each click on something controversial, no matter the topic and the side of fences, should logically trigger more controversial content, I know people with a lot of free time who got entirely swallowed by this cascading logic

And these people clearly don't go out a lot, so at some point, anything they watch become true, regardless of what truly happens in their street, district, city or country.

There was a time you know of where we, rightfully, accused TV to do exactly the same thing, to inundate us with visuals and speeches all made to elicit an emotional response that twisted our perceptions about the world outside

Algorithms are a thousand time more efficient at tapping directly into this emotional response, and that is a so much juicy business for the big players
