I’ve hung out with this guy a few times through mutual friends, and I’ve noticed his friends repeatedly tease him specifically about me. The first night we met, we were sitting in the back of a car when I found my friend’s knife. He jokingly asked, “Are you trying to stab me?” and I replied, “Do you want me to?” Our friends started laughing and asked what was going on in the back, and I jokingly said, “We’re having a private conversation.” He laughed too.
Since then, I haven’t really flirted with him bc I was embarrassed by my blatant flirting, but his friends keep making comments. One told him, “Come on, get closer to your girl,” and another time, while we were talking between parked cars, his friend randomly said, “I think he’s talking to her,” even though I was on my phone. When he clarified that he was actually talking to someone else, everyone laughed, and he seemed embarrassed and slightly annoyed.
We’ve also ended up sitting in a car alone together on two separate occasions, and I’ve noticed him looking at me repeatedly when we’re hanging out in groups. Sometimes I’ll catch him looking at me from across the room, but he also seems somewhat reserved around me and doesn’t usually sit close to me. Interestingly, another girl was openly hitting on him one night, but his friends never teased him about her.
I’m confused because I haven’t been openly pursuing him, yet his friends consistently single me out when teasing him. Is it because they’ve noticed something on his end, or could they just be joking because of our initial interaction?
