Why does a man talks about previous dates/hookups like he's talking about the weather?

Hey there!

I'm finding myself in a little bit of a dilemma. I've met this guy a little while back and we enjoy spending time with each other, bunch in common, you name it... He is helpful, nice, kind and caring - even complimented me on several occasions. Also thinks about including me in his new work project, him wanting to hire me, blah blah blah.

We were spending an evening together, having a good time at my place when all of a sudden he starts bragging about going out last weekend and "almost" ending up sleeping with a friend he's known for years that he had a fling for back then. Grabbing a branch saying that he was too drunk to do it and ended up just sleeping beside her, hugging. A huge neon "WTF" popped up in my head then. I realized just then that it pinched me a bit, probably meaning that I have a little more than soft spot for him. I'm quite fine with that, but since I kinda thought that it was mutual, the "story" itself put my mood all the way down to my flip flops, not really knowing what to do nor where to go.

Is he showing off? Telling me that "there's no way in Hell we'll be together"? Or just plain insensitive?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks and take care everyone !

I don't know if this is the case for him but I have opened up to women that I like telling them about sexcapades and other women but I intentionally make it super vague so it peaks her curiosity but leaves her in a total mystery, and it works charms! It usually comes only if for some reason I feel she is trying to play hot/cold. It is my way of saying, by the way, since you are being not really being clear on weather you like me or not I will return the favor and make you guess the same thing.

It's not a particularly flattering story that he told you, so I doubt that he was bragging or trying to get you interested in him sexually. It sounds like he just feels comfortable around you, and is talking to you like he might talk to one of his "bros." Which means that yes, you are sadly in "the friend zone" with this one.

Men aren't the only ones it happens to!

Sounds like you've been friend-zoned. I mean, if he is talking about working with you, that's what he'd like to do with you...

If he's interested in you, he's not a gentleman for talking extensively about that stuff.

Or he's not interested in you, and thinks are a good friend for talking about it.

Or he's trying to show you he's open about sex without commitment.

Whatever the reason, you should stop seeing him, he sounds like an ass.

Yeah dude you totally are! Just joking, he trusts.you with his personal secrets.. Personally he sees you as a great friend, at least I think he does.. I wouldn't want to talk about these things with girls I have a crush on
