Just Be Yourself: A Lesson in Life

Just Be Yourself

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

There is a level of uniqueness in everyone, it is this distinctiveness that makes us stand out from others. It is like the finger print, everyone has a distinctive print from others. In the beauty of uniqueness, everybody cannot be for example like “Barack Obama” but we can stand out and be popular like him in our various endeavors. But the fundamental truth is, you cannot be yourself when you have not yet discovered yourself.

A lot of people aspire to be like others, but they forget what journey such people have undertaken and what lies ahead for them in their journey. One can learn something positive from others, but we cannot exactly replace others in their complete identity. The various great people have created a path for themselves, which gave them that identity for example the great Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi, and so on. All these people stood out in their endeavors.

Just Be Yourself: A Lesson in Life

Steps to being yourself.

1. Look inward

There is a goldmine within our hearts, if only we can dedicate some time to explore, we can bring something valuable for the world to enjoy. Today we all look for happiness, love, peace, success in the wrong places, and we fail to understand that everything we need begins with us. This truth has led to such statements as “you cannot give what you do not have”.

Life is lived inwardly but expressed outwardly, we act out our thoughts and desires, daily. For example, when we have the desire to get a job, the desire pushes us to act, by applying and looking for available jobs. Let us pay attention to the inward, and filter the truth out of everything. Things could change if we explore the power of positive thinking. We can be happy, if you choose to, and we can be sad, if we choose to.

2. Follow your heart desires

Accomplished people in the world had a dream, they kept it so dear in their heart, they shared it others, who most times made fun of them, but some believed in them, they didn’t give up, they pursued till they conquered. Every dream must be followed with action, it was out of this recognition that James Wrote “Faith without works is dead”. All that man needs, life has provided him, and so we do not have any excuse, we only need to tap into the abundance.

3. Develop Your Values

Values are what will help you grow, and be known for something good. We can only develop the right values within ourselves and give them out when needed. Remember, what we give attention has a way of influencing us negatively or positively. Learn to work with love, patience, hope, and forgiveness. Learn to let go when necessary, and retain your love and happiness. Values are more important that silver and gold because the whole essence of life circles on values. With the right values, we can be proud of our achievements knowing very well we gave our best. These truth is the key to happiness.
