Stop Driving Yourself Crazy, You Lunatic!

Slow Down, Breath and Relax

I know this seems pretty obvious, but a lot of people seem to miss it. Take a few slow, calming breaths, go for a walk or take a long, warm bath or shower; whatever techniques you use to relax, do them a lot more often. Some people have a way of making everything feel needlessly intense so try to take a step back, chill out and think before you react. Whatever is going on probably isn't as important as you think it is.

Stop Yelling

When you think about it there’s hardly ever a good reason for yelling. Being excited: not a good reason; avoiding being raped: good reason. Otherwise, tone it down to the minimum volume required for the people you’re talking to to hear you. If you’re talking to someone out of earshot, either call them or talk to someone standing closer.

Don’t Over-share

Nothing makes people feel more uncomfortable and run for the hills quite like the story about how your dog got an anal fissure, and then you got one a week later. Why would you tell anyone something like that?!?!?! No one wants to hear it. Unless you want to burn a lot of bridges, don't go into a tone of detail unless someone wants to hear it and asks you for more. It’s not funny to gross people out just because you can.

Find a Constructive Outlet for Your Craziness

What do you love doing? What gives you a kick? Do you love writing? Doing maths? Hurting people? If you like hurting peoole, obviously don't pick fights with people onghe street, at least try to find a martial arts club to help you let it out.

Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously

People who can laugh at themselves and their as situation are most are likely to end up well adjusted, plus, laughing is great for your health. There’s something about taking yourself too seriously that brings out the worst in people. It’s pretty much guaranteed that strange things will happen to and around you in your life so you may as well laugh at it.

Meditate Daily

Even if it’s only for twenty minutes, try to set aside a time each day when you reflect on yourself. Who are you as a person? Why do you do the things you do? Why do you like the things you like? These kinds of questions will help you get to the root of yourself. Meditation is a way of drawing yourself inside of yourself, so you can 'meet' yourself. When you meet yourself, you’ll probably find that you’re a pretty normal person.

Have a Good Support Group

Everyone needs people to care about them, to support them, to physically restrain them when they’ve gone completely mental and are trying to eat their cat. Those who do surround themselves with a solid support group usually end up as really successful people. If you have no friends, try joining a club (you don't have to be amazing at whatever you've chosen, you just have to enjoy doing it) or you could turn to your family.
