Our eyeballs are attracted to signs of superior health. The things that make us healthy and strong are the same things that make us attractive. For those of us who are not attractive, we may apply make-up to our faces and go on temporary diets just so we can have a slimmer body. But in the long run, the make-up may be toxic to our bodies, and the yo-yo weight fluctuations caused by these temporary diets may ruin our metabolism. Instead of pursuing a quick fix to our physical appearance, we should pursue a regular maintenance of superior health, which would shine through our skin as beauty.
Obtaining superior health may be difficult to do. One person may contract leprosy, and his appearance is disfigured for life. One person may have a vicious fight with his partner, and his partner throws acid on his face, causing permanent disfigurement. One person may lack the means to obtain a healthy food source, because he lives in an area where there are no supermarkets, and convenience stores near gas stations only sell junk food. We must not be so hasty to judge a person's health based on appearance, because we don't know the person's unique situation. Whatever is ailing the person from the inside is wreaking havoc on the outside.
I remember The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. The young Dorian Gray breaks up with Sibyl, kills the painter Basil, blackmails a chemist to destroy the body of Basil, pursues a new woman with dishonest intentions, and other vicious things. Although the novel was influenced by aestheticism, the idea of being ugly on the inside and beautiful on the outside is haunting. In our own lives, we may do things that are pleasurable and pleasant on the outside but do damage on the inside, emotionally or physically, but in the long run, the small things accrue into one big thing, and this big thing negatively affects our wellness.
Therefore, we should improve the health of our mind, body, and soul, from the inside out, and together they will make us attractive. Whether this is possible is a different concern, because something that has caused damage to our wellness and beauty may be irreversible. So, we may just have to make do with whatever little natural beauty we have left and cope with the ugly scars. With a bit of creativity, you can disguise those scars (i.e. Caesarean-section scars) with pretty designs. :)

Its easy to have a healthy body. You just have to eat balanced and get enough physical movement (which is not the same as working out till you drop dead).
I agree it can be superficial health, but then again, I have never heard of a 20% and above body fat guy being healthy. So I guess it is kinda superficial.
