i think the body acceptance movement is propaganda by the media to push people away from being super skinny to keep that to the models and separate us even more from movie stars. why does the media always report if a movie star loses weight but never if they gain weight? why not praise movie stars for gaining weight if it really was diserable to the media? the only people who believe the body positivity movement is what people actually think are the people who are deparate for it to be true so they can feel better about themselves. people still mainly find that skinny is the most desirable weight class.
I think its social media. However, i don't think they're trying to push us away because now they have plus size models. Having them isn't going to change anything massively. However, they cover everything the media from losing weight to gaining weight. We are in a culture where we kinda stalk people. We have to know everything. And they don't mainly find skinny attractive. Most of the guys I see like bigger girls and they're from every race and background.
Depends on a country What is Curvy in USA is Fat in Russia What is Short in Sweden is Tall in Spain Etc... so you literally can travel the world and find yourself, being seen as a "princess or fugly or athletic or model or frog" lol for real Its all so So relative
Agreed everything is different for everyone but people continue to say things aren't right. However just because things are true for the U. S. does not mean it is for everyone everywhere
Exactly and to be honest, lots of people think people in US are fat, so they make being fat normal or sexy, its more easy. (But shh i didn't say it lol😂)
Way too far. Societal definitions of attractiveness fluctuate, but current body positivity standards have disengaged from all norms and the realities of health. Anorexia is not healthy, overweight is not healthy. There will always be people who find attractive at either end of the spectrum, but it is OK to view the body as a biological machine and find it most attractive when in perfect working order (including ability to move fast, jump high, sex for hours in all kinds of ways that take strength and coordination, oh - and birth a child).
I don't think beauty is defined in weight standards because you can always put on makeup, do your hair and dress in nice clothes to accentuate your best features and show your personality, somebody will find you attractive. I gained 70 pounds after leaving the Navy due to a service related mental illness and I don't have trouble attracting men. I'm trying to lose for my physical well being.
I think the problem most people have with being overweight is the health risks.
Why there always has to be one thing that is "in" and if you are not "in it" you are a fucking weirdo.. Why can't we just fucking be ourselves, different and have different preferences?
My comment wasn't towards you. But towards this whole trend. I know you didn't make this happen.
Some time ago thick girls were "in". A while after thin girls were "in". But during those periods both types of girls existed and men who liked each of them.
So my point was why just one type of body or clothing must be "in" at the same time. Why can't we all choose ourselves what type of body we have or clothes we wear, without reading it from the magazines what is "in" and "out". These were just my thoughts, not directed to the OP, I'm very aware that she is not responsible for this phenomenon.
It's cool to see that my body type is actually considered beautiful now. I have a very exaggerated hourglass figure (big boobs, tiny waist, big hips/butt) and when I was growing up, that wasn't the wanted body. Yeah they wanted girls with nice boobs and a nice butt, but (no pun intended) not as big as mine. So that really lowered my confidence, but now we've embraced so many other body types to be beautiful and it's just really cool to be able to feel pretty.
When I was in high school/ university (Late 90s). Very few girls were above the Australian size 10-12. Most fell in around size 6-10. (Size 4-8 US). I think media contributed to this trend with the TV show 'Friends' and others being popular, showing actresses and models being a size 8 AUS (4 US) or smaller. Now, we see larger. It has become ok to be larger.
ironic that you chose a pic of the word beautiful in japanese because what you are saying couldn't be further from the truth here in japan. guys do not give a fuck about curves they want THINNER than japanese average female body type.
Body positivity is a GREAT thing. There is nothing wrong with loving yourself. I think we should love ourselves even while we are in the pursuit of changing our bodies. Pressure to look a certain way will always be there, but telling a woman to just love herself promotes healthy self esteem, confidence and an overall better quality of life than trying to look a different way. I believe we are all different for a reason and that it wonderful in and of itself.
how about we get down to the facts. there are some people aka plus sized girls who are fucking born that way. genetics people it's a thing. plus size is not fat or unhealthy. if you're overweight that's different but that girl in the camo is FIT. ok fit doesn't mean you have a flat stomach and a thigh gap fit means you exercise and you eat well and you sleep well all that shit ok. i'm an average size and if i didn't do all of that and looked the same you guys would just say oh she's thin she's healthy NO i know people who i kid you not eat so much fucking crap good i'm talking family size bag of mnms in a fucking day and they HAVE A SIX PACK. OK. THATS NOT HEALTHY GUYS. THESE PEOPLE ARE HEALTHY. ITS JUST THE WAY THEIR BODY IS. SHUT UP.
Genetics are not eating 6 cheeseburgers and 8 liters of sodas. THE GIRL IN THE CAMO WAS THE THICK ONE I don't remember if I mentioned that before. AND I would think it did. Healthy means you eat right and exercise. Fit means you are physically fit and you are toned and whatnot. And take your own advice and shut up and chill you're 13 RELAX
also the definition of fit is "in good health, especially because of regular physical exercise" and healthy means "in good health" there's nothing in the oxford dictionary that says you have to be "toned and whatnot"
No, I'm not a year older than you I'm older and I will because you obviously don't know how to use proper grammar or how to spell please go to sleep you have school tomorrow and you need to pay attention in English how's middle school going?
actually i'm the best in my school at English and i got into private high school because of it so don't assume my life bitch and actually yeah you're only a year older i'm 14 in less than a month. on other hand your grammar doesn't make sense at all so please go back to your sad life and leave me alone. part of this website is sharing opinions. you asked a question and i shared my opinion so please either don't post questions like this if you're not ready to face the repercussions or get off this site. your choice.
I'm not a year older it says 13 and I'll be 16. And I will assume based on your writing and your obsession with vulgar language if you even know what that means. 😊You're very immature but I expect that from a seventh grader we've all been through it. I didn't ask for opinions this was a mytake not a question. And you need to learn when to capitalize and when to end a sentence. You have way too many runons. I'm Okay with opinions just not idiocy but sadly it's just how people are and I should just ignore ignorant not fully educated or poor educated people. Sadly a lotus the replies don't get the point and just want to give their opinion because sadly everyone is now told their opinion matters when it doesn't
I think people are just way more accepting of different body types, even if they're not attracted to them. I personally would like a skinnier girl but she does t have to be rail thin or have an hour glass figure but just in shape and not grossly overweight
Personal preference has nothing to do with this but the first half of the first sentence worked the last part was a no. I don't know why every guy wants to say what they find attractive. I wasn't asking what you thought about women's bodies.
I'm sorry but for the vast majority of white men (I'd say Asian men as well)... thin girls are much preferred. If i see a girl who looks like the one in the second image.. I'm going to assume she has never seen a white dick in her life lol. Anyways yeah... i personally don't like that stocky ''thick'' look. Each to their own though.
@kickme thick=fat. Depends on what you mean by fat. you can't live without fat. If you mean obese? then in some cases yes but there are people who store fat naturally in places like hips breasts etc. even when skinny
When i say thick i don't mean fat necessarily. I just mean they are bigger bones... aka wide hips... bigger legs.. and they may have big boobs but i often associate thick with the bottom half... which does often involve her having a reasonable amount of fat in her legs but in the right places. It is a race thing though... black dudes love girls that look like the one in the second image. I've hanged out with many who have spotted girls out to me... I've watched them check out girls... its always the 'thick one' with wide hips and a bum. White dudes tend to prefer petite but with a perky bum.. and boobs are liked as well. Honestly... thick i think means big legs, hips and ass... forget boobs all men like those.
@guysaskgirls555 yeah but that's a race so that argument doesn't really work because people consider it a race. I get your point that it's made up but it plays a role in our current society.
@guysaskgirls555 I glanced over the chat i saw thick = fat. Girls who are thick clearly have a decent amount of fat but not to the extent where is starts hanging off your body... aka the obese woman is a extreme example... or perhaps where you see bumps in ones clothing.
I don't know whether to say black culture.. black people.. all i know is men who are mixed or black do like the thick types. Girls who are thick also more often then not somewhat exclusively date black men (perhaps because we like those who like us partly?).. I've noticed a certain look of female that is often interested in me and i too like that type back probably because of that reason subconsciously.
I mean there was only 2 girls in my 6 form (2 years combined aged 17-19)... 2 of those were white girls and i only saw them around black dudes... one of those girls i knew through class and she always had a profile pic with her and her black boyfriends.
I have a sort of modern fringe bowl cut going on... the emo looking /gamer girls types... seem to like me or show the most interest... I have found myself looking out for those girls. I think we tend to like the type of person who likes us back (at least a decent amount of us do). say your feeling bad about yourself and X group is still showing you interest... your going to look at them in a better way if that makes any sense?
@guysaskgirls555 Well those social constructs influence how different races think etc. To say there is no difference physically and mentally between black, white and other colours/races... we would be lying.
To speak on weight, I've been lean all my life but seeing someone over or under weight never seem like a thing. It's really who they are, and how they go about loving and spreading love. Lost my virginity to a thick girl, and she's been my best relationship since.
You know instead of liposuctions some women used to get to get that thin look, they now get liposuctions in the stomach to inject the fat mass anew into the hips and buttocks atrificially creating a slim waist plus size hips and buttocks look. You can inseed lose weight or put weight on to remain healthy but i believe using your body as a tool to stay in fashion with the body type trends is over the top.
Fatties gonna fat. "Plus size" by definition is not thin, and "healthy at every size" is garbage. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and nobody has the right to demand you find them attractive. Hit the gym and eat less
It's official! "Body Positive" is the new code word for FAT. tTe PC thought police must have found out that the code was broken on "curvy" and "plus size". I wonder what next years word will be?
Sorry, but only "Body Positive" females like "Body Positive" shaped women. The only other people who like them are weird men with a chubby chaser fetish and guys who decided to settle, and god help them.
The two thin girls pictured above are pretty hot though. The camo pants fatty may as well be the same as the purple blimp as far as I'm concerned, I've unfortunately seen this naked and it is not good at all.
The girl in the heels isn't thin/ The girl with the shorts are. You said two and then you said the camo pants fatty. She's not fat and you make no sense. And you would think with age comes wisdom I guess that's not for everyone.
I think by "two thin girls pictured above" he meant the one in the shorts and the one with the tape measure. Then, he moved on to the "camo pants fatty" as one of the remaining two (i. e., not thin) women.
Glad to help, but did you actually read what she posted? She thinks the "body positive thing" (being OK with whatever body you have, even if it's overweight) has gone too far. She's basically saying that the reaction to the unhealthy super-thin trend of a decade ago swung the pendulum too far, where it is now almost promoting the also unhealthy overweight body type. It's not that she feels that "fat is the new thin" herself, but that the pressures of society (media, advertising, etc) have switched from glorifying thin to glorifying fat, which she actually feels is a bad thing.
@CarpX I might fall off my bed FINALLY someone got it thank you that should be the mho. Exactly what I'm saying thank you for reading and not jumping to conclusions

Understandable but that wasn't really the point it's not about attractiveness it's about being socially being acceptable and people being unhealthy.
I don't think beauty is defined in weight standards because you can always put on makeup, do your hair and dress in nice clothes to accentuate your best features and show your personality, somebody will find you attractive. @princesskayle No problem x @lesserme Ah, you found your glasses then ;)
@datdopegirl I had my glasses all the time :D
Fat is only acceptable to fat chicks and men with zero self respect.
I don't think that's fully the case but what does that have to do with the point? Did you read it?
I skimmed a little.

What does race have to do with anything? and I wouldn't describe a "thick" women as stocky. But "thick" isn't a synonym for fat.
thats stupid. a lot of white men love big breasts a bigger butt is more of a hispanic/black thing though
@guysaskgirls555 That might be true to some but race has nothing to do with it.
thick = fat
Different race, different preference
@kickme thick=fat. Depends on what you mean by fat. you can't live without fat. If you mean obese? then in some cases yes but there are people who store fat naturally in places like hips breasts etc. even when skinny

@princesskayle the only race is the human race. There are only social constructs
the username I was quoting someone else but yeah I do see what you mean they go for eachother it makes sense
@guysaskgirls555 Well those social constructs influence how different races think etc. To say there is no difference physically and mentally between black, white and other colours/races... we would be lying.
I'm not saying you were 100% implying that... I'm honestly a bit confused with this chat in regards to who is arguing what. But yeah my 2 cents ^^
the username, I am saying exactly what you are saying. Why does it seem like nobody is reading my replies lol
To speak on weight, I've been lean all my life but seeing someone over or under weight never seem like a thing. It's really who they are, and how they go about loving and spreading love.
Lost my virginity to a thick girl, and she's been my best relationship since.
That's nice but that really wasn't the point. It's saying that we are getting bigger and I healthier and how it's being more socially acceptable
You know instead of liposuctions some women used to get to get that thin look, they now get liposuctions in the stomach to inject the fat mass anew into the hips and buttocks atrificially creating a slim waist plus size hips and buttocks look. @CarpX Yeah, I thought it was obvious, but she thinks fat is the new thin so...
Glad to help, but did you actually read what she posted? She thinks the "body positive thing" (being OK with whatever body you have, even if it's overweight) has gone too far. @CarpX
Not totally disagreeing with you, see your point, but my take:
the title is "Plus Size is the New Thin!"
Plus size = fat
Actually, thin is the new thin. Only fat girls are glorifying fat girls
I didn't say that it was to draw people in. Many are missing the point I'm not saying they're the new thin but rather that being fat is now being so wildly accepted that I'm starting to worry
Only fat girls accept this. Men hate it but are silent out of fear of seeming insensitive or being called sexist, etc.
Yeah it's the title and the point was to draw people in hoping that they would read it but they obviously did not
I believe plus sized is in now but skinny will always steal your man
I don't know if you meant this to be funny but I find this hilarious. But I just think if your man wants to cheat he will cheat on you with anything.
I'm serious skinny=phat pussy
prettymellow knows what's up
I'm quite disturbed
Why are you askong this than child
why did you reply?
Or even post? and it was what came after
Look at the big one though. She's the only one smiling cause she's happy lol. All those carbs keeping her jolly
The girl in green and the thick one are both just considered hot, regardless of curvy or slim
That wasn't the point of this
I think people should just take care of themselves health wise and it doesn't matter if they are skinny, cury or in between. I guess society has changed how we picture people today as being skinny used to be the thing but being plus size or curvy nowadays is the thing to do. Whatever makes a person happy in all that matters. Not really into plus size women as they don't really turn me on but a women who shows off her curves is sexy and is comfortable in her body.
